      Clean Gemtech Halo

Hello, I inherited a Gemtech Halo last year. I tried to put it over my AR-15 bird cage and it wouldn't go on. I took it to my LGS and they determined it had gunk built up so much it wouldn't go on. They recommended soaking it in mineral spirits, which I did for about an hour, then I let it dry...

DIY: Wet Media Tumbler (Pic Heavy)

Last year I started to get interested in reloading and began by building a reloading bench and researching and purchasing some reloading equipment and components. While doing research on tumblers and media type I found a thread about wet media tumbling with stainless steel pins. After getting...

      Rem Action Cleaner?

I have an old 22 that has a disgustingly dirty action, based on a casual visual inspection with a flashlight. Can I really just hose down the inside of the action without taking it apart with something like Rem Action Cleaner and let it air dry? That seems almost too good to be true.

Do you clean your 22LR guns?

I have always gone the Full Monty on cleaning even my .22s; wet patch, brush, dry patches, oiled patch. Now, on the interweb I am reading that maybe you should not clean a .22 other than just a dry patch to remove loose crud. The theory is that since the bullet is only traveling at 1640 fps...

      Waxing your gun?

A guy at my work told me today that he waxed all his guns last night with carnauba wax. He said he heats the guns up with a heat gun then waxes them. He lets the wax sit on the hot gun for 2 minutes then rubs it off. He said that he was told by high end gun collectors to do this. I have never...

      Gun cleaning or the lack-there-of...

Ok, I've been taught from day one that a gun has to be spotless between range times. That is how my Dad and the Military had me trained. That's how I did my gun cleaning; clean after the range, period. Previously most of my time at the range involved shooting 50 to maybe 250 rounds, slow rate of...

Poll - Most used lubricants in 3 categories

You see tons of threads on all gun forums (this one is no exception) about gun lubricants. I'm curious if kept to just 3 categories which type is most used. For this poll broken down to basically just 3 groups to keep it simple: 1. The newest group, wonder Dry Lubricants. Couple examples -...

How do you clean live ammo rounds?

I just bought a quantity of surplus handgun ammo at a cheap price. The catch is, it needs to be cleaned. How would you clean live ammunition? Can it be immersed in liquid and still be shot? Or just wiped down? What kind of chemical/solution should be used? Thanks!

      M44 cleaning up (refurbishing?)

I bought a Mosin-Nagant M44 at a gun show in January and I would like to fix it up to be in good working order this summer. I can't do it yet because the semester isn't over yet. Can anyone tell me how to properly clean it up and possibly refurbish it? (I think it still has the Cosmoline on it)

      My new PTR-91 KF

I just received my new PTR-91 KF this week. But I have yet to shoot it. I cleaned the bore and bolt assembly. But I didn't really mess with the trigger group. It does look a little oily but the oil isn't thick like cosmoline. Should I leave it alone or give it a good cleaning? Also... Is anyone...

      A good general purpose lubricant?

Since I got a lot of good advice on cosmoline removal, it occurred to me that I'd better find a good general-purpose lubricant for this SKS of mine when I get it cleaned up. Any suggestions? Thanks again! :patriot:
