For what it's worth, and take this with a grain of salt because its been a few years since i've messed with it. I have a Remington 1100 .410 with the same issue. My hunch has always been the carrier latch, but Ive just never dug deep into it.

With shipping costs and expended time on trial and error, I always felt it would be easier to throw $140 at a new trigger assembly.

I thought when the carrier latch gets dinked, usually that just keeps the bolt from locking open when empty.
Seen that on a bunch of 1100's.
Mine would fire one round and get stuck locked open. I would have to use a knife or stick on the carrier latch to get the bolt closed.

Let me start off by saying I'm not a gunsmith. I bought an extended mag tube for my 1100 years ago. After installing it with the new spring and magazine follower it would lock up. I always suspected the mag follower but never looked into it. I ended up putting all the stock parts back on and it ran like a pickle seeder. What this could have to do with my bolt locking forward I don't know, but it did.

I'll add that to the troubleshooting, thanks!

Alright guys. Mark this one resolved.

I'm glad i carefully studied this instead of throwing parts at it.

The nut that hold the forearm down is separate from the mag tube extension. It was not putting enough pressure on the forearm allowing the barrel to move forward maybe 1/8th of an inch which allowed the bolt to move forward that much. Apparently that is what was binding up the works! I put the nut on tight first and then the mag extension instead of just screwing the whole assembly on together. This brought the barrel up tight in the receiver.

I shot about 50 rounds through it with no issues.

I always like to see how things get resolved on these online posts so wanted to share this update.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement!

I did ask about a stuck O ring thinking if there was one that would add to the existing O ring and push the bbl fwd.

    LOL

Right! I double checked that with a pick even. I mentioned how it would extract properly (manually) when I removed the o ring, so that got me thinking and focusing on that end instead of in the action/trigger assembly.

I totally missed it having an ext mag.

Had one years ago but it just screwed on, no between piece. Without bbl clamp itd loosen after a while.

Also threw gun feel and swing off. Away the ext mag went

    Doesn't surprise me.

Needs a QC check after final assembly (add to the process)
or needs a QC check after final assembly (somebody actually do their job- the check is in the process).

Hell, hard enough to get anybody under the age of 45 to show up for 40 hrs a week.
