    Any one have it?

i lay in bed at night and it feels like my knees are cramping or tight. Like I have to move my legs. The tightness goes into my hamstrings and quads too.

    drives me friggin crazy!

I find kneeling and sitting back on my ankles before I go to bed along with some back stretches helps me. Otherwise I will lay there flipping my legs back and forth for hours.

The use of a magnesium/potassium suppliment has helped the wife. I did not have restless leg syndrome, but I would get cramps in my calf or foot. Simply making sure I got potassium (potatos, bananas) regularly took care of the painful cramps.

Check your medication side effects, my wife was taking a medicine for a while and developed RLS, a couple months passed and she found out it was a very common side effect of the drug.

I began to develop this while taking naproxen-sodium (Aleve) for an extended period of time. It ended shortly after I switched back to aspirin.YMMV

My spouse suffers from this. Long trips as in driving or flying she drives me crazy. 40 miles is about her limit. Some nights she runs track.....others she is OK.
Dr. has her some meds for it but she does not like them.

OP, you really should have it checked out by your MD. RLS happens by itself quite often, but sometimes it's a symptom of something else. I was (mis)diagnosed with RLS some years ago and the medication for it didn't really help. Turns out I had a bad case of anemia. After that got cleared up (with the help of a few pints of blood) the restless legs went away and haven't been back. There are other things out there that can cause it, too, (like some medicines, as others have said). Don't leave it. Get checked out.

I know a guy that had real bad leg cramps and his doctor said he needed more potassium and it helped him.

The best remedy that I have found was to take my shoes off and walk around on carpet barefoot making fists with my toes.... at least that's what a guy on a plane told me one time.

Wow, that seems like a pretty serious side effect from such a common med! I am fortunate in that I don't take any meds, which I guess is unusual at 45! I was physical therapy for my wrist the other day and this 43 woman was next to me talking about her grocery list of meds.

im the kind of person that if I am prescribed a med to take at 10am everyday or I die, well...better start building my box.
