Long-Haired country boy could be my anthem.
I saw Charlie 3 times, and each was a special event.

Uneasy Rider had to be one of his best.
    My condolences to his family.
R.I.P. Charlie, you deserve a rest.

He was a huge nra supporter! Very gun friendly and at every friends of the nra banquet there was always something signed by him! Last year it was a red white and blue fiddle and an autographed simple man lyric sheet!

He was on the Michael W Smith 35 years of friends tribute special a few months ago, he had slowed down a bit but was still doing great for being in his 80's.

I saw Charlie in Columbus, OH on my 21st birthday in the 90s. I was attending Bible College at the time and he was playing in a little bar downtown so I had to sneak out with my roommate. He played a green light up fiddle. Man it was an awesome show.

Indeed hard to be sad when one has a Life well lived. I would say that many country stars could learn a lot from him. No Offense Tim and Faith, but you will never be in the same league.

I never even really thought of him as "country", although I guess he kinda was. I considered his music to be "southern rock" along the lines of Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, etc.. At least when I really was into him back in the late 70's, early 80's. He was the "anti-disco"! :):
