He definitely knew it was coming. He just released a bunch of his new songs on YouTube in rapid succession... and check out "Lazarus"... the lyrics, the images... album feels like it's based on his death.

I was just listening to something the other day and it announced his birthday and age. I hope he enjoyed his life and had few regrets.
I doubt he had a single regret. That's what I loved about him even though I didn't like his music. Whether it was music, acting, or art he did his own thing not giving a damn what anybody else thought. That's a life well spent.

I put Bowie right up there with Cash and Dylan. Two years ago I was driving almost daily from Bloomfield to Princeton and I got into the habit of playing "under pressure" on repeat at top volume while singing along and beating the **** out of the steering wheel to keep time.

The man was quite the artist and himself art. He was a beautiful dude.

One of my go-to cd's is a sampling of stuff I downloaded from Limewire back in the day.

    #5 is Suffragette City

I credit "under pressure " with rescuing my teenage daughter from a life of listening to crap music. That, and watching Queen Live at wembly on YouTube, totally changed her musical tastes! Not long ago she came home with a bag full of CDs she bought at Buybacks, 2 or 3 queen cds, a few Bon Scott era AC/DC, and a more recent Bowie album I hadn't heard before. I love it when young kids discover the classics, and it won't ever get much more classic than Bowie.

I'll watch tomorrow. I looked up his song list and didn't recognize a one by title. Hrm.

    Check out "Space Oddity."
Even if you've never heard of Bowie, you'll almost certainly recognize the song, unless you steadfastly refuse to listen to classic rock, of course.
