A friend new to the sport was told at an Indiana gun shop he better apply before the end of the year if he wants a lifetime CC license. Bad info I told him but I want to confirm that here. Thanks.

    .....
First of all, its not a cc permit, it is a License To Carry a Handgun (LTCH)...

I wish I had a dollar for every time this rumor has come around... I would be beyond rich, and would own a lot more than I do.

No, "they" are not doing away with the LTCH.

BTW.. Dont believe everything in a gunshop.

    Welcome to INGO BTW!

(Checking calendar).... Nope, not April 1st.

    1) "A friend told me" = Uh, oh....
    2) "That a local gun shop told him" = here we go....
    3) "that the lifetime...." = wait for it.....
    4) "CC Permit" = BAM! There it is!
    5) "is going away" = sigh....

Thanks GOODNESS INGO is is here to set the record straight!

My friend had been waiting awhile for his permit to come back. We called to inquire about it and was told it is taking longer than normal because of an increase in applications since the lifetime was going to be discontinued. Could be some merit behind it. Our call was about a week or week and a half ago.

No bills were put forth or passed in this last legislative session to change the licensing process. Since the GA isn't in session, there aren't yet any new bills on the plate for 2013.

Not saying your friend wasn't told something incorrect.

I think the proper term for this is "hogwash".:D

Someone should go through the forum archives and collect all the posts about them getting rid of the lifetime LTCH. They should be posted in their own thread and stickied to the top.

Thanks everyone. I told him that I thought that I would have heard about something like this but that I would check it out. He went to three shops and wasn't sure where he heard this. I don't want to slander a shop so I'll not say where he went. Thanks again. Stteve
