BBC and Yahoo (and apparently Russian news agencies) confirming ambassador has died.

Speculation: with all the social media coverage of Aleppo (speaking of snuff pics), Russia, Turkey and others will seek to further limit the content in distributed reporting. Would follow onto the work toward limiting "fake" news.

Also reports that police/military have a building surrounded (maybe an apartment building) and shots were fired. Kinda wonder what the status is of the shooter's kin.

Turkey media have ID’d the assassin as a serving police officer - Mevlüt Mert Altintas. Member of Ankara police.

Yeah... and... uh... there's a pic of what looks like a very dead dude that looks a lot like shooter dude.

Now, it'll be interesting to see if the date stamps match the gofundme sites.

I won't link here. Pretty disturbing. Shot from behind with exit wound through heart and close-up of man's facial expressions while bullets impacted. Very hard core.

Also, in looking at some pics of his demise, I give Shooter some credit: it doesn't look like he tried to take human shields or anything like that. Whatever the body count ends up at, it doesn't look like he intended to take out "innocent" people.

So here's something kinda interesting. Karlov spent 30 years (apparently) working in/dealing with North Korea. In 2007, was transferred to Turkey.

In the world of diplomacy, that's a huge change. People tend to have specialties and expertise in certain areas. Turkey and DPRK don't seem to have much in common.

Magazine is missing the bottom plate.... Wonder who that belonged to and if it was shot off.
Yeah, noticed that, too. I suspect his handgun (Sig? I'm terrible at identifying non-Glock/non-S&W/non-Makarov pistols) took some hits while he was dodging incoming projectiles.

Look at the trigger discipline. Is this the shooter?
Yes, he's been ID'd, he was an Ankara police officer, he was shot and killed in the gallery where he shot the Russian ambassador.

Can we get these threads merged?
