Heck, as little as 3 years ago you could get a Chinese T53 Mosin carbine and a tin of ammo, out the door for $200. Now good luck even finding surplus x54R. But yeah, it's always a gamble to see what is going to increase in value and what isn't

I traded a Ruger LC9 with extra mag and all that came with it for a 2000 production year Department of Corrections California trade in about 3 yrs ago. I figure the drive to Indy and the LC9 I had 400 in it. Now I see 3913 selling for around 450.

If anyone has a S&W 908 and needs a parts kit with slide and barrel let me know. I have a lead.

One of these days I'll have to line up my mag collection and post a pic. I probably have close to 50 3rd Gen mags of mix variety. Most people only think of their firearms when determining value of a collection they fail to take into account the accessories, and other parts they have lying around.

I got a set of Altamont Co Model 59 wood grips. They feel really nice, but boy do they make the already thick gun thicker. Anyone else run wood grips on semi-auto Smiths?

I have a 4566 with the wood grips. Generally, I prefer the look of a wood grip and on SW revolvers prefer the feel of wood grips but, for me, the wood grips just don't feel right on a 3rd gen.

Being a 1911 fan and from an aesthetic stand-point, I prefer the exposed back strap of the 2nd Gens though I don't own any...though would sure like one (or three!).

So who's going to buy the 457 in the classys? I may have to sell something in order to have a chance, but figured one of you would of grabbed it up by now.

I think stainless in general looks better with wood than blued. But here's a crappy shot of my 59 with the wood.

My schedule isn't allowing a trip to Danville though I've clicked on the link a couple of times. Was bidding on another value line on Gunbroker today but didn't realize that the 15 minute rule wasn't in effect and someone grabbed a 910S with box for $275.

I saw a Model 59 with stag grips....always though I should get a set of them. Something about wood though looks good on any gun (well except maybe a Glock).

I think I barely convinced the wife that a 909 on GB for 345 final price is a sweet deal, I told her they were made for one year fairly uncommon. I got 3 days to decide I may try to up-sell her on the 457 instead though seeing as I have vacation starting tomorrow.

While 640-1 could refer to 639; my guess is that you are most likely referring to the ubiquitous and near perfect J-frame revolver. Which I agree, is a fun shooting platform.

Third Gen Smith's are semi-autos in various calibers built from 1988 to 2010(ish) though all 1st and 2nd gen models back to 1954 are similar and loosely included herein. Production ceased when accountants and plastic took center stage....but that's another conversation.

In order to join "officially", it matters not if you own a 3rd gen; you only need to send $100 to 1775usmarine (put 457 fund in memo) and DO NOT make it out in his wife's name.

USPS decided to move quicker than their tracking indicated, so I picked up my 10mms today. They're great, I'm convinced this 1086 is unfired outside the factory, as there was no powder stains/residue to be found anywhere, including the breech face. 10 mags, 5 yellow and 5 white followers. Might have to look into getting some replacement night sights, as they're dead. But man do I feel luck to have picked these up.
