I've been on tracks that have lasted hours through the woods. It's nice to be able to cinch your rifle to your chest and walk back, when requesting agencies release the perimeter, and don't think about taking you back to your car. :(
True, mine will do that. It's just not high speed/low drag style where I'm running and gunning, adjusting the sling as I go.

Single Point: Never could get the hang of them. They feel great when shooting static, and bounce all over the place when you start to move. Even slung around on your back, it's still bouncing off of you and uncomfortable. Plus that's not really an option if your wearing a pack or something like a hydration bladder. A weapon catch does a great job of solving this problem, but adds bulk to your belt.

2 Point: Hard to beat for general purpose shooting. My personal favorite is a Vickers style, because it's nice to be able to transition between shoulders rapidly. I typically use something like a Burnsed Loop because it's easier to transition between shoulders, but mounting off the stock definitely does a better job at keeping the muzzle pointing down.

Being able to sinch the sling around the arm to stabilize it is awesome too. I really like some of the specialty slings designed for doing just that, such as the Tactical Intervention Specialist or a Ching Sling.

3 Point: IMO, probably the most comfortable of the 3 for times where you are wearing the gun for long durations, and does an excellent job keeping the muzzle pointing down. Really slow to get into and take off though, as well as a pain in the ass to install on the gun.

2-1 point transitional: This is probably where the main bulk of my slings fall, even though I rarely use one in a single point fashion. I generally buy an Urban ERT 2 - 1 as soon as I buy a rifle, and love the wide webbing. The Magpul ones are nice but I wish they made a wider version, because they begin to dig in if your using a heavy rifle. The Dieter CQD isn't a bad option either, and very simple to use.

So many options out there, and the only way your going to find what works for you is experimenting. A sling is one of the most crucial parts of any long gun though, and well worth taking the time to find the right one for you.

I've been very happy with the Vickers/Blue Force Gear sling that John Farnam recommended. It's very comfortable and still allows a quick shoulder-to shoulder transition. As was previously mentioned, an Appleseed weekend Took my accuracy to a much higher level, through proper use of a strip of green canvas!

Urban ERT for me. Been using this in competition for a couple of years now on both my rifle, and my PCC. I typically carry the rifle around in 2 point, but like to run it as a single point in matches. Very comfortable yo wear all day, and the bungee section doesn't bounce when you move. You almost have to catch your rifle on something to get any movement out of the elastic.

VTAC 2 point sling here. I've been using the same sling for about 4-5 years now - no complaints. Along the way, I installed a triglide to experiment with a single point setup - wasn't for me so I went back to the 2 point and haven't looked back. I have the wide version with the extra padding. YMMV.
