Can you look at the left side of your rifle and see if yours has a serial number???? DD claims his does not, perhaps the work of some gang banger... I have heard of another one in the city that has a serial number of alittle over 1000...

I just.took the stock off and went over all of it with my phone flashlight. No numbers. Just proof marks on top of the barrel and reciever.

Many thanks for looking.. DD found out from a highly detailed Winchester research guide book (one that he probably does not deserve to own) that the model 55s were not Serial numbered.. So it seems that someone placed a "rack" number of some type on this other model 55. It would be neat to find out why this gun was numbered.???.. The fun thing of guns you learn one thing then 3 more questions pop up..
