To a degree. The way I read it, the amendment would have allowed for transportation of an unloaded weapon through any state in the nation if the individual transporting it was legally allowed to carry the weapon. Not exactly reciprocity. I think it was there to give republicans something to vote FOR more than anything.

    We already have that.

    Title 18 > Part I > Chapter 44 > § 926a
§ 926A. Interstate transportation of firearms

lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any
other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation
the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily
accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle:
Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s

Ayotte was their last chance for the overall bill to pass. She announced about 2pm ET that she would vote no. If everyone holds firm to their published position, the libs cannot win.

Hmmm.... Don't see any of that in the 2nd Amendment...

The package itself only needs 51 votes to pass once it's assembled. It ain't over yet, just a couple amendments got shot down.

Your sure? I thought even the final bill needed 60 to pass

... it probably will not get it - both 'revisions' got more than 50. and some voting for SA.715 and SA.725 - will not vote for S.649 without either of those.

Donnelly voted for the "better" SA.725 ... Cruz/Grassley (coats) amendment.

Leahy-Collins amdt next -- claims that lawful gun purchasers can buy firearms from licensed dealers to give as bona fide gifts. Cruz says no.

Yes, but what else does it say?

Indeed, but that is all I took from that particular section of the amendment that Cruz co-sponsored. I didn't read through the entirety of the bill, I just went to the section about "reciprocity." Again, I think this amendment was just put forward to give Republicans something to vote FOR.
