This happened back in December of last year. He is still on the job as far as I can tell, not sure the capacity. However, this incident did not cause him to immediately resign....soooo there is that.
Possibly. If he suffered an actual mental crisis, then not likely. Much like any person who would have done the same thing, IF no one was injured. They would be better off with medical care. Now if someone ended up shot, well that bell cannot be un rung.I suppose randomly discharging a firearm in Tennessee is acceptable if you happen to wear a badge? It smacks of criminal recklessness to me.

This might have already been discussed, or might be super obvious to anyone else watching the vid, but I missed it.... why did he fire his pistol?
Did he just freak out and start blasting, or did something happen that justified him firing his pistol, then he freaked out?
Just obey the cops orders and never resist them. I hear this all the time. Oh, wait, they did follow orders.

Hopefully they took his gun and handcuffs away, and he's just directing traffic or doing a desk job.

I think it was in the story that accompanied the video. A man was using his cell phone to record the officers actions and the officer mistook the cell phone for a gun.
