    I personally prefer a medium,fine, and ultra fine spyderco benchstone. I prefer benchstones much more than those weird systems. I am more than happy with the quality of edges i can get.

    What's the easiest way to figure out if you have a burr?

    If I'm in doubt, I just look. It looks kind of like a very thin "extension" of the blade along most or all of the edge. Like someone glued some super thin foil to the the blade, edge to edge. Another clue is that you will see darker/lighter near the edge that runs parallel to the edge.

    I have a Lansky kit that works decently. I'd really like to learn to use stones or sandpaper but I have trouble keeping the angles the same. Somebody needs to put on a sharpening class, I'd be in!
