Problem is that Savage has a history of changing their stock/trigger guard/magazine configuration rather frequently, which makes it hard for aftermarket accessory manufacturers to keep up. If you're going to pick *A* bolt-action platform for which to debut your new stock, the short-action 700 (which has been basically the same for, like, ever) is a no-brainer.
And no offense to the Raven folks, but I hope their new holster works better than it looks.

I really liked the Raven Phantom holster back years ago when I saw it at the 1500 but I never picked one up. Now $85 seems costly for a basic own kydex pancake. Not that I've found similar for cheaper mind you; so if anyone wants to recommend a good deal let me know. Maybe there are discounts to be had on Raven if they still hit up the 1500?

However, the NRA convention is pretty good for us mere mortals. And it's in Nashville this year. I really liked it last year and am thinking of going again in Nashville since my brother lives there and I have a free room.
