But, of course, "white male terrorists tried to kidnap heroic Whitmer for saving the state from the Trump virus" will remain the "truth" for the rest of history, because the retraction and the dropped charges will never be reported by the people who breathlessly spread the original lie.
If you click the MSN link in that story and read their version, it's barely a couple sentences about the charges being dropped for lack of evidence, and paragraph after paragraph repeating the original narrative even though it just fell apart in court.

A judge in Michigan on Monday threw out terrorism charges against three men allegedly involved in a plot to kidnap Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
Yeah, setting up a bait car is one thing. An informant or undercover cop standing on the street corner near it pointing out the fact that its unlocked and ready to steal is another.
That is what we are dealing with here. If an informant is made aware and infiltrates and is pulled into the scheme thats one thing. But it seems like these informants are doing the latter above.
I have no trouble with them stopping bad people from doing bad things. What I DO have an issue with is taking somebody who might want to do bad things, and encouraging them to do so, then busting them for attempting to do something you encouraged them to do. (that they were unlikely to do on their own) That's just wrong.

It could have just as easily went the other way.
This should be viewed as a stain on the FBI but most will never know about it or believe it.
