If sales are an indicator I have had a difficult time moving .40 Cal guns. Had a Glock 23 Gen 4 forever and was not going to stock more 40s unless someone asked for one but recently found a good deal on a P320 in 40 so stocked it but fear I will have it forever too. Now interestingly, I can't keep .357SiG for long at all. As soon as I get one it is gone.

I just ran my P07 in .40 this morning. What a nice pistol that is. Ran it along with a full size 1911 in .45 and an officer framed 1911 in .45 and it was just as controllable. The recoil is similar to the aluminum framed officer sized 1911. You feel it more, but not in a harsh way. The full size 1911 in .45 though is just a wonderful gun to shoot. And shoot, and shoot...

I still carry a .40 daily at work, and shoot the caliber quite a bit. I see both .40 guns and ammo getting cheaper in the near term, and as new designs come out I expect many manufacturers will bypass it entirely (see Ruger American), but the caliber's not going away despite what a particular dealer in Mooresville might be spouting.

I was in Gander Mountain a couple months ago and there was all kinds of used .40's that people traded in. The FBI going back to 9mm has to have a lot to do with it. I'm a huge 9mm fan myself. Very potent ammo is available for protection and fmj target rounds are probably the cheapest to shoot besides .22lr

Maybe if I find a great deal on a 3rd gem S&W in the 4006, 4046 etc flavor I may get into 40cal but will stick to what I have. Will continue to store the brass I find in my bucket for when that day comes.
