Honestly, diabetes is a huge cause of death in the US. The stats show that one of the reasons is the HUUUUUGE amount of soda that we drink. I don't have a problem with it honestly. I need to quit drinking the **** anyway.
Of course it is a revenue stream.Wouldn't simply getting rid of corn subsidies be the way to increase the price? That would get gov't out of it altogether and raise the price of the soda. If she's against that, then she's just lookng for a revenue stream.
I have a problem with the .gov trying to control what we ingest, period. Taxing something to change behavior is just an excuse to raise revenue. Then when people actually change their behavior, the .gov is upset at the loss of that revenue and has to look to replace it.Honestly, diabetes is a huge cause of death in the US. Yep...that "universal daycare" won't go away when people cut way back on drinking sodas. Then what will they do? (Forgetting for a moment daycare is not a power granted to the Feds by the Constitution).
Why is it democrats and liberals so adamant about "getting government out of their bedrooms and vaginas" but love to have it in their kitchens, refrigerators, and businesses?
I don't care what people put in their body, as long as it's not hurting anyone else- it's their choice. We have taxes on cigarettes and booze, so why not soda? It's not like it's a food or anything nutritious.

Just like cigarette taxes. Disproportionately takes money out of the pockets of the lower class. If you quit drinking, it is your choice.
I really don't need the government to act as my father figure by telling me what to do for "my own good".
And as Sanders claims, this will affect the poor more.
So do we help them by making their food more expensive?
