We were camping in Cherokee, NC one summer. We found a grizzly bear track right outside our tent that looked exactly like a dog print. We're still not sure how he did it. We're assuming he had those shoes with the weird prints on the bottom. You know, to throw us off the trail. He didn't fool us, though.

When I was still in High School, I spent most of my time at my dad's 10 acre woods in SE Hancock co, near where 6 Mile creek flows into Big Blue River. Blue river was very polluted in the early 1970's so I would walk 6 Mile Creek and fish for Rock Bass. I would start at 800 E and fish to 900 E then back again. It was alot of fun and it kept me out of trouble.
On one particular Saturday, I was wading 6 Mile creek with my Zebco spin caster, and I went to throw my lure into a quiet pool under an overhanging bush. I misjudged my cast and my tube lure landed in the bush. No problem, I would just wade over and retrieve it, right? Lo and behold, two totally nude people, male and female, sitting on a sand dune eating a picnic lunch and drinking wine and beer.........I froze.
The man was having a good time, but the shapely and attractive lady was noticably nervous.....go figger.
I watched for 10 minutes or so then decided to fetch my scoped .22 rifle so I could get a closer look. I snuck back to the couple and watched for a while. The man put a beer can in the creek to watch it float down stream. I didn't like that cause my family swam in this creek and I could foresee a cut foot. I took a bead on the can, but I could hear my Dad's voice in my head, "You are NOT going to shoot toward those people". I uncocked my Ithaca 49 Saddlegun.
The Lady would look around about every 2 or 3 minutes, I could read body language and the man would reassure that her "some body is watching us" feeling was just her imagination..........yea right.
They retire to the blanket and proceed to enjoy each other.....if you know what I mean. Now keep in mind, this is 1971, no internet porn, no 900 numbers, only Playboy and National Geographic........This was interesting........... for a while.
I watched for a while and would you believe it, I got bored and decided to go back to the car. I backed out of my hiding place and took about 10 steps to see a large groundhog about 50 yards away in the opposite direction of the lovers. I took about 1/2 a second to decide to shoot at the hog...........POW............WOMAN'S SCREEMING.........WOMAN SCREEMING...."SOMEONE IS OUT THERE".
I walked back to my car laughing till my side hurt.
Thank you for asking this question, I am laughing just remembering it.

We took some moose pictures in the boundary waters canoe area back in the '80s, great pics. There was a cow eating vegitation in the shallow water (about knee deep to her) with a calk at her side and a big bull watching from the tree line. When we chose the best one to have enlarged and framed we noticed ripples in the water at her rear;) She was taking a leak....not very noticeable but when pointed out, very obvious. I'll try to get my dad to send me a copy so I can post it.
No way! You saw the very extremely rare occurrence of the female moose urinating. You are a very lucky man. :D

Around 1978, spring was coming, there was still wet snow on the ground. Our truck driving nieghbor came home late at night an took the garbage out to the road...He screamed out loud in the middle of the night an ran back in to get his wife...they returned with flashlights an walked all around the house an back to the road, then across the road to the open field...they were too terrified to follow the tracks any further an went an got my Dad an told him they were going to call the police an took him an showed him the tracks....They were about 19" long an 9" wide, man size but you could see each individual toe!!! It was BIGFOOT tracks!!! They went in to call the police...but Dad wouldn't let them...You see, Dad had watched me that day make them out of wood an then screw them into the bottom of some old boots..."What are you doing son?" Going to leave some tracks for the nieghbors Dad.....Dad said they were so scared an when he told them what they really were they just started laughing, they thought it was great....But in the morning Dad told me they called the cops an they were coming out! He let me sweat it out for awhile before telling me. True Story.

I was in the California back country panning for gold along a nice little stream out in the muddle of nowhere. I had been doing this for three days straight, with no signs of any other people. It was in the middle of the day, I was hot, sunburned, bug bitten, and covered with poison oak. I looked up and a beautiful, totally nude, girl was walking up the stream towards me. I was sure I was hallucinating. She walked up and sat on a rock about five feet from me and said "whatcha doin?". I felt like I would have to use both hands to close my gaping jaw. I explained what I was doing, and we talked for about half an hour, at which time she hiked back up the stream. Later that evening I walked up the stream myself to eyeball her camp. There were three couples in camp, and they were all content to be as naked as jaybirds. I've still got the gold, and the memories.

Yeah. If I saw that on my trail cam I would never go back LOL.

Once while deer hunting I saw like 12 turkey just grazing in the field. A few doe came out and this little yearling thought she was a turkey I guess. She ran up to those turkey and just started to feed along and never went back to the group of deer. I saw a squirrel and coon laying together in a tree fork. That was funny cause the damn squirrel was laying on top of the coon and one of the two was snoring.

One time a long time ago,(1980) my cousins and my brother and sisters were exploring the fields behind our parents house. About a mile into the corn field we came to a clearing that had a small pond in the center and we found a freshly killed calf.
The blood was still very wet and the flies hadn't begun to cover it.
    The strange parts were
1)there are no cattle anywhere near the area.
    2) we found no trails or sign of what had killed it.
3)It looked like it had just been torn open maybe a minute ago.

The next year we found 5 motorcycles strewn around the same cornfield in the same clearing.
No trails or anything, plus they were in pretty new condition at the time.
Went back to the house to get Dad.
When we got back they were gone, only the depressions where they had laid were left.
We never heard them start up anything, someone went alot of effort to push them in and out of there.

Another time (1989)I was home on leave from Basic and was designated driver for my Siblings and their friends as they decided to get stoopid drunk.
They decided to go down to Bonnell and the 5th bridge down near New Alses(sp?).
To see if they could find the Ghost of Mary.

The story of the Ghost of Mary and the 5th bridge, is that years back there was a railway that went over the bridge and this woman know now as Mary lived not too far from there with her mentally challenged son.
Well one night the kid wanders from the house , finding that her son is missing Mary goes looking for him and finds him wandering on the tracks.
As she gave chase to him. he decides to run onto the bridge thinking it's a game.
The story goes as soon as she almost has him a train comes down the tracks and splatters the kid in front of her eyes just before it kills her too.
The story goes that if you go at night and stand on the brigde and call out "Mary I have your baby!" she will appear crying for you to return him to you.

So anyways, they convince me to drive them down there to find out if Mary would appear. So we get there and I park under the bridge while they call for Mary.
They get out and climb the hill to get on top of 5th bridge and begin calling out "Maaaarrryyyyy! We got you Baaaabbbbyyyyyy, Maaarryyy we got your F'ing Baaaabbbbyyyyyyy" over and over.
I'm in my truck with the seat reclined while I listen to these fools.
I hear footsteps coming down the gravel drive and see who I assumed was one of the people that lived nearby. When the woman came to my side of my truck and asked what the noise was about, i told her that it was my idiot family and their friends trying to call up Mary. To which she replied something along the lines of "its not good medicine to harrass the dead especially the ones who died tragicly"
I agreed with her and said I am sorry that we were disturbing everyone. She said "Thank you Michael, you are one of the nicer people I have come across. Maybe I should put a scare into them" and walked back the way she came.
Less than five minutes later, they get quiet. No giggling, snickering nothing. Then they all let out this scream of terror and come jumping off the bridge, rolling down the hillside and bolting for the truck. They piled in back screaming for me to get out of here ASAP. After getting back home , I casually asked if they saw Mary.
They go on to tell me that they had gotten on the bridge and then spread out facing both ends and began to call for Mary. After calling out they turned and found a woman standing among them crying holding out her hands and asking where was her baby.
I think they saw something, because they seriously jacked themselves up coming off that bridge and were pale.
I laughed and told them about the woman I was talking to, and how she knew me by name and said she gonna put a scare into them. They asked what was I talking about since no one lives within walking distance of where we were.

    Kinda freaky,
as a fellow batesville resident i have heard a lot of crazy stories about that bridge

A few years ago in our back yard we watched a young redtail catch a rabbit, another youg redtail challenged him for it and a fight ensued. After they settled their differences and began ripping the fur from it together (the sound is awful) a much LARGER redtail swooped in and took the rabbit! The younger birds just sat there for a bit, flew around as if they couldn't decide to challenge the larger bird or not and watched heart broken as the larger bird ate their prey....

Now I know why I see bones and fur pieces hanging from trees at eye level, while I'm in my treestand.;)
