Even if your PC is in your home in Indiana and the server hosting INGO is sitting in a building in Indiana, the Internet cloud, from your ISP to the server farm's colo network could still bounce those evil little packets through Cincy, Louisville, Chicago, Detroit, or beyond before they settle where they were addressed.

But would that hold up in court? That is the final question, the first being: Would they use that to charge you with a FEDERAL crime if no local laws were broken?

Bolin went on to say officers focused on 604 East Powell, where Murray lives, after they learned the IP address associated with 616 East Powell was "an open IP," meaning anyone with a Wi-Fi enabled device could access it.

    Noooo, really??

You would thing people supposedly responsible enough to be trusted in public with a supply of weapons that would make most of us slobber thinking about having them would also be responsible to think of a no-brainer like that before terroroizing citizens.

Don't forget that part of Bolin's excuse for raiding the house and subsequently the house two doors down was that they couldn't tell if it was an open signal or not.

So the SWAT team has an arsenal to drool over, the mayor thinks they need an APC, and THEY DON'T OWN A WI-FI CAPABLE LAPTOP?

Oh, they have a wifi capable laptop, but they are using it to read INGO. seriously
Just for the Record, I am not an Evansville Police Officer...

Just had to throw that out there for some of the more challenged readers, who might make the 5 watt epiphany moment connection of; hey, jeremy is on a Wi-Fi Laptop....
