So this evening I was minding my own business, surfing INGO, and generally being lazy when I get a call from my boss.

Who says everyone on our "big, redundant, and otherwise kick butt" circuit is down.

Ultimately it's a router problem. We paid some fancy consultant types to configure the routers for us so things like the above wouldn't happen. They also claim 24x7x365 support with a 15min sla.

I'm going on two hours since I called them.... still haven't heard from the L2 engineer who's supposed to be calling me.

Is the above par for the course, or did we just get stuck with a router vendor/consultant who sucks?

    oh, that's awesome.

L2 guy told L1 guy..... "They don't have a "support" contract in place. They'll have to wait until tomorrow to call their sales guy to get support."........... When asked what the rate for "out of contract 24x7 support is" I got the response..... "we don't do that. Talk to your sales guy tomorrow."

Customer Service..... ^^^^ Not a good example of it.

Now the CTO of our company is calling to most likely raise the dead.

The network is down. Backups were added in the network design to prevent this from happening but they failed as well. The company that designed the network won't support their equipment after normal business hours because a contract wasn't signed saying they would. A business is losing money because of it.

Simplified version: **** is ****ed up. This **** isn't supposed to **** up. The douchebags that set the **** up are being *******s and said we're ****ed until morning. We're losing money over this ****. The big boss man is going to **** their **** up over the phone.

If one router is taking your circuit down than you don't have true redundancy. Two hours is a long time for a call back. We've had issues that lasted longer, but at least the vendor was on the line giving us status updates. Ask for the escalation manager. Gotta love companies that pay for consultants to tell you the same thing the employees know, only presented with nicer Powerpoint slideshows.

This is so deserving of rep, but alas I am all out.

Is the cannuter valve in bypass mode? Is the flex capacitor set to receive? I would suggest gizmo fluid but you're obviously running sub par dumahickies. Check those out and let me know - I have a b.s. degree in technical mumbo jumbo.

According to another thread, CRC brakleen has a host of uses not specified on the can. Try that and see what happens :dunno:

PS - is Lars amused yet? :):

We had the recently with a NAS vendor (Network Array Storage - an advanced disk drive that you hang on the network to be the "hard drive" for servers.) They saw no problem with just turning them off to fix their hardware problems. Didn't bother asking anyone if maybe we don't want production to go down at that time. Our employee escort is about as clueless.

Makes me glad I'm in Application Development side of IT now, rather than server/network support. Although I did have to walk away from my desk to keep from carrying out my desire to end a co-worker. I was hoping that while I was gone, he would forget to breathe. Is Stupid hereditary?
