    Once again, I've got "trade-itis".

You see, not too terribly long ago, I sold my Ruger GP-100 .357.

I now maybe kind of regret that.

    I have a S&W M&P9fs and an M&P9c.

Tell me it'd be wrong to trade or sell the 9c for a .357....

I'm nervous I'll do something rash. :n00b:

    You all suck!

I (we) don't have the money for me to just go out and buy another gun!

    Gah!

Of course, I WANT to just go out and buy another gun... *sigh*

I do the same thing Indy. I can only affordto keep what I have, so I trade around for something different. I can't say it is the best idea, but it works for me. There are quite a few I'd like to have back...maybe one day...

At least you asked for advise this time, you trade guns more than most people change underwaer!

I get that BAD sometimes. I traded off my Smith & Wesson M&P15 because I just didn't like it (or buying ammo for it) and I actually felt relief that I didn't have it any longer...sometimes despite what I always try to tell people about not selling or trading guns...sometimes you HAVE to trade! What is the M&Pfs by the way? Full-size? I'd keep the full size and trade the compact personally.

Can you say "lay-away?" You get the thrill twice. Once when you pick out the firearm and again when you have saved up enough to pick it up. Okay I have never been that patient but in theory it seems like it would work.

    I've got a handful of trades/sales I wished I hadn't.

All of those I ended up replacing with a brand new gun.

The lesson I learned is never sell/trade something you like for something you think you'll like.

There will be plenty of 357's a year from now, as will the m&p's. So it's not like you're considering trading off something that can't be replaced easily but IMO put some bucks aside in an envelope and when you have the funds to buy what you think you'd like, buy it. Keep the ones you already know you like.

If it was something special or hard to find, I'd say make the trade and if you like it, good, if not, you can always trade that again for what you lost initially. If it's just a standard off the shelf readily available production piece, save up until you can buy it. Then if you find out that you really don't like it as much as you thought you would, now you've got trade fodder to play around without giving up something you do like.

    Know what's even worse?

MontereyC6 had money to wave under my nose this morning. He's seen this thread and is trying VERY hard to talk me out of that M&P9c...

    Grrrr...

I think I'd regret letting either of those pistols go, though.... *sigh*
