When I sign Taurus people up for training I always bring a Smith replacement as I have never seen one make it through a session.

I've got a Taurus Model 44 6.5" barrel that I've shot over 2,000rds of magnum rds + several thousand rds of what I call light magnum loads through it. Have not had a problem with it. It's around 28 years old now. It was my 1st large caliber handgun. I have had a trigger job done on it. The double action trigger pull was horrible. It's now very smooth.

No experience with modern Taurus stuff but I had a Model 85 a million years ago. it sucked. Bought it new and the charge holes in the cylinder were so over-sized I had Federal factory ammo KEY-HOLING at 21 feet. As I understand it their QC is crap. I got rid of that gun and never looked back. Probably best to stick with Ruger and no-lock S&Ws IMHO.
