    Good man....

In what way? He's been screwing gun owners for 20 years. He has about the same voting record as Arlen Specter, except Specter was better on guns and Supreme Court nominees, and Specter was considered a liberal, while the rubes in this state consider Lugar a conservative.

If any of you really think that Dick Lugar cares about the little guy, you should read a letter that he wrote several years ago to make sure that the preferred alignment of the many proposed for the I69, Indy to Evansville project, did not touch his family farm. This letter is public record somewhere in the vast files of this project.

his campaign sent me a petition to put him on the ballot. im tempted on sending a brick back to them wrapped to the return postage paid envelope.
I bet I will never get another piece of crap mail from them after they pay like $15 for an envelope ;)

I wont compromise anymore, no matter who gets elected as a result. so I wont be voting for Dick. If everyone would do that then we would stop putting Dicks into office.

    Ditto!

I admire your fortitude " I wont compromise anymore .. " but I have a question and if you tell me to shut up you have every right and I will not say another word to or about you on this subject .Because what I am about to ask is absolutely none of my business .

In the last election ... the 2010 election .
For US Senate , and I assume you are a voter here in Indiana .
Did you vote for Rebecca Sink Burris the Libertarian candidate ?

You say won't compromise did that just come about or have you practiced that for some time now .

    Thanks

I am so confused. I was pretty sure Dick Lugar was the Democrat/Socialist from Indiana and Evan Bayh was the socially moderate fiscal neo-con. Now we have Coats and Lugar. The worst of both worlds and both proclaiming to be conservative GOP members. We are so screwed.

    Amen

Well I hope that they get him out . He must feel the heat since he sent out that questionnaire . I also hope we get a real constitutionalist in there .. Dan Coats ain’t' .

Does any one know what happened to the allegation of him and young boys that was made in the Indy Star in the Late 80 's ?

    Thanks

I got the petition from him also. I wrote across the front of it in black marker "Go Retire." On the back of it I wrote a note stating something to the effect - "Not only will I not sign your petition, when the time comes I'll actively campaign against you. You have been in D.C. way to long to have any idea how Hoosiers feel these days. The fact that you'd vote to confirm 2 left wing ideologues like Sonia Sotomayor & Elena Kagen to the U.S. Supreme Court shows how out of touch with Hoosier values you are. Oh & thanks for voting against the Thune amendment that would've given Hoosiers with handgun permits the right to legally carry their firearms through other states, just as those residents from other states can do when they travel through Indiana. Your no conservative & you're no friend to Hoosiers"

Even after having met with them, in an effort to convince them of his conservative bona fides, the TEA Party folks remain unconvinced and are planning to go after him in the primary. I have very little faith that this will work. That's a powerful machine and there are entirely too many voters out here that will push his button, due to his seniority and party backers. The gop is going to back Luger, this is a given. The question is will the challengers buck the system? I do wish them luck. I also think it's a given that most voters will vote for Luger, should he win his primary, rather than vote for a 3rd party or a dem. That's how we got Coates.

Not really. We got Coats because the half a dozen other candidates that were more conservative split the conservative vote amongst them instead of unifying behind one or two that would have pummeled Coats. Stutzman and Hostetler combined got over 50% of the vote, while Coats couldn't even get 40%. It was quite clear that most Hoosiers DIDN'T want the Republican RINO candidate.

What you are seeing is the evolution of the political process. You can vote for the candidates but the power machine will pick who you can vote for.

Not sure it's evolution if it never changes. But, yeah, we do tend to get screwed by the party machines, don't we?

I didn't bother reading pages 3-4, but I wanted to let you all know that I think it's hilarious (and just a little sad) every time someone types "Democrat/Socialist."

On topic: Who cares what the teabaggers think? Other than fox "news," that is.

I hope all of our libertarian friends will vote in the Republican primary to try to get this stain on the State of Indiana out of office.

Sorry, we're not allowed to vote in the primaries. A vote in the primaries is a promise to vote for a majority of that party in the general and most of us aren't going to do that. You republicans are on your own. It's your house, clean it up.

Oh, now come on Expat. You know it's much more fun to throw stones than attempt to engage in the governing process. If they were actually attempt to get rid of the Dickster and failed then they would not have Republicans to kick around. If they were successful they would have to take ownership of their choice. Who wants to do that?

If you won't do anything to rectify the situation than why stir the pot?

He has good intentions and honestly wants to help people and make things better. If you ever met him, and spoke to him in person, he's very likeable.

He's just goes about it all wrong. I completely disagree with him on just about every issue, but he's not an evil person or dishonest.
