I have one of the first Les Baer 6.5 Grendel's and it is a 1 hole gun, but too heavy to hunt with because it has a 20" bull barrel. I had Mark at Precision Firearms custom build a Grendel and it has a Bartlein barrel with an AAC suppressor and a Vortex 2.5x10 glass sitting on top. I just like nice guns and to me, it's Grendel all the way in the AR15 platform. With a 123 gr. Scenar (my choice), what are you going to have trouble hunting in Indiana, plus you have a hell of a range gun.

My upper/lower/rail should be here around the end of the week. I've ordered everything needed to complete it but the barrel and BCG. Once the dust settles from Christmas I'll see how things look and order a barrel and BCG when I can.

You can use the regular bolt carrier and put a 6.5 Grendel bolt in it. Watch out for people trying to sell 7.62x39 bolts for Grendel; the bolt face depth and therefore the headspacing is different.

That depends if the chamber is Type 1, Type 2, or .264 LBC. Some use the .125 recess the 7.62x39 uses. Others use the SAMMI spec .136 6.5 G recessed bolt.

Primary arms has Bear creek arsenal 24" complete uppers (ss, straight flute, heavy barrel, minus bcg and charging handle) for $229 as of 12/28/17. Pretty darn good deal. I put together at 20" upper using a Bear creek barrel and am shooting 1moa all day long at 100 yards. Im sure a better shooter could easily pull off .5moa at 100. Haven't been able to shoot any further than that

Are you taking sbots at deer at 300+ yards?

I went with 300 blk becuase the round and platform are so easy and straight forward. Super for more yardage and sub for closer confined areas.

Couple of weeks a gent took a massive buck with a 300 blk and i think it was subsonic!

I'd have no problems taking a 300+ yard shot at a whitetail provided I knew the rifle well enough and it had proven capable. That said, it's pretty unlikely that I would do that as I much prefer to bowhunt and I enjoy the challenge of getting close to them. Poking one at 300yds isn't very challenging.

This rifle will see most of its use on a range.
