...I doubt they just assumed, because he’s white, he couldn’t possibly be concealing a firearm.

I doubt it too. It's ridiculous to make such an assumption. Maybe Kut has super secret inside info of a Texas Tech unspoken policy that calls for strip searched of any non-white suspects, with video to back it up.

Quite the same, but years ago I had a case that involved an arrest of an African American suspect for shoplifting who them used a secreted item to commit suicide. Didn't search him. Wait, maybe knowing he would commit suicide, they chose not to search him. Racists!

Seriously, I don't know how anyone could make a case of disparate treatment...unless they are predisposed to see it everywhere.

Or what is more likely the officer that searched or was supposed to search him just ****ed up. We are all human, human's screw up all the time.

Not only do humans screw up all the time, but to the larger point, sometimes humans are total A-holes to everyone...it's not always about the race. I guess the real white privilege is that when you get treated horribly, you get to assume that the guy is just a piece of crap, generally. No need to go deeper than that.

Well, to be fair, Kut did say it would make black people wonder. And I suppose it would....if they want to see racism as the explanation for everything.

Huh. For some reason y'all jumped on the racist bandwagon.

I read that as "college students are treated differently by police, especially on campus".

This is 100% true. I worked on-campus for 15 years. Students ABSOLUTELY got preferential treatment. Underage and drunk? Get escorted back to the dorm. Drugs? Get them confiscated and a slap on the wrist. The same happened for tenured faculty. Not, however, for staff. Staff were fired for parking in the wrong spot.

The same officer, interacting with the same "kid" (errrr, adult) off-campus would perform an arrest just like normal (curb-stomp and all). But on-campus? Not a chance.

I thought I was jumping on the "it's not racism" bandwagon. I'm on the spoiled thug/incompetent cop bandwagon at least until I get sufficient evidence to the contrary.

Jamil is in rare form these days. All these flavors, and he chooses to be salty. :)

...It's stuff like this, that make black people think that's there a difference in their treatment by law enforcement.

Yeah, I don't know where I got the idea that he was injecting race. My bad.

Was "black" in there the whole time? Damn browser... the word wrap / browser window size cut that off the screen for me.

So, yeah, that's racist. Or, at least bigoted.

Took 12 posts to throw the race card. Impressive. Idiotic, but impressive. Apparently if you don’t use that card often enough it goes bad.

Prayers to the the officers family and someone is getting fired.

Heh, nah just particularly argumentative over the past few weeks!

I'm afraid to say "good morning", else you'll tell me why I'm wrong and stupid for thinking so...

Well, no. I wouldn't say you're stupid for thinking so, but I might tell you why you're wrong.

Wait. Did I do it again?

I'll surprised that we come to find out that the deceased officer (RIP) searched this kid. Really surprised.

You're still upset about that whole Civil War, and "my family did not!" thing aren't you?
