I saw him at the Indy Jazz Festival back in the late 90's on one of the stages....I've got quite a few of his CD's...Love Memphis in the Meantime...

I try to go see him whenever he's in town. I've seen him twice with Lyle Lovett - just the two of them on stage, and other time when Joe Ely joined them. Great shows. It was like watching some buddies just sitting around, telling jokes and stories and playing acoustic guitars. He's written a lot of songs that other artists made popular. "Angel Eyes", "Are You Ready for a Thing Called Love", the theme song from the movie "Michael" (Through Your Hands). He's one of my favorites.

Samantha Fish. I could watch her all day. Oh, and she's good too.

Yeah he was way more famous for his writing...The rest of the world discovered him when Slow Turning came out in the late 80's...Amazing songwriter...

Almost forgot Rev Peyton and his big damn band. As I recall he's down in Bloomington.

It's hard to beat SRV playing Tin Pan Alley. I'm also partial to Jimmi playing Red House.

Locally... Gene Deer is awesome, as is The Why Store.

Joe Bonamassa plays guitar on this for her. They have toured together, and did an album together. Her voice is haunting.

I can't believe that a Blues thread in a gun forum has gone on this long without mentioning Robert Johnson's 32-20 Blues.

There was recording that used to be online of a 60's blues singer from around the 3rd Ward in Houston. The lyrics spoke about Dowling Street and how you'd get hit in the head if you broke a twenty after dark. :)
It was an absolute classic for Gulf Coast blues tunes. Tried to find it to post a link here but it seems to have disappeared from the interseine.

I've seen Bobby Bland, BB King, Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Lonnie Brooks, and Ronnie Baker Brooks live at various places around NWI.

Reminds me, I saw Corey Stevens about 15 years ago in Terrible Haute. He reminded me a lot of SRV. If he's still out there he'd be worth a look.

Oh yeah, Big Mama owns that song. And check out a very young Buddy Guy backing her up!
