The free Kindle ebook thread

Amazon offers a fair number of ebooks for free for limited periods of time on their site. Some of those are useful/applicable to this forum and this thread is intended to collect them.

That's ok i saw this one, and looked like some one caught urs 88 so no harm no foul! And apparently the deal is over now. I got it but my wife tried late last night and it was no longer free

No problem. I noticed that, but figured it wasn't worth flagging. I purposely gave this thread a generic name as these types of books come up periodically. I did see a book on bug out bags a couple of days ago, but the reviews were bad.

How do you find out what books are free?

Finding free Amazon books:

• Look up any currently popular book. Check it's current ratings in the listing.
• Jump into the top ebooks listings.
• You can browse the top 100 current free ebooks.
• You can also drill down under various categories and see the top entries within those specialties.
• As I understand it, Amazon has a program where authors can have their books listed as free for 5 days as a promotional tool. That generates more "purchases" and more reviews which then help when the book switches back to paid status.
• Not all free books are worth much. I've also seen some trying to game the ranking system by rating each others books highly. Still, you can find some very useful books there.

Thanks for the recommendation, but probably not worth it. The info in here has a short life-span. When we bump it with new info is when it will be most visible for people to grab the books. Probably best just to leave it as is.
