I have heard that if you go on vaction and leave an open bag of cat food and an ample supply of water when you get home the cat will be fine. If you do the same with a dog he will eat all of the food the first day and if he doesn't die he will be starving when you get home.

I've heard a similar comparison between a horse and a mule. Most folks think a mule is the dumber of the two but if you leave your horse in the barn with all the hay and oats it will gorge itself until it dies where the mule will eat enough until its full and then stop.

Yes. We also used to take those wood scratch-anywhere matches and stick the head in an empty 22lr brass and hit it with a hammer on some cement - louder than caps.

Take a scratch-anywhere match and hold a straight pin or sewing needle along the matchstick, pointed end toward the match head. Then wrap it tightly with a small strip of foil about halfway down the length of the match but leave some of the pin sticking out (we used to use a chewing gum wrapper back in the day before the gum companies all switched from foil to paper). Finally, slide the straight pin out from under the foil, leaving a tiny channel from the edge of the foil to the match head. Light another match and heat the match head wrapped in foil. After a few seconds :voila: instant rocket. Just make sure its pointed away from you.

Saw a car in the drive of an empty parking lot the other day. A millennial age dude was looking down at a woman changing the flat tire.

He watched while she jacked up the car.

I worked in an auto parts store after high school in the late 80's. The place was in an upper-middle class area that a coworker used to call "the land of the $40k-a-year millionaires" because they lived wealthy lives but were in credit card debt up to their eyeballs. Most people had a Mercedes or BMW as their lease or company car that was serviced by a dealer but owned a cheaper car like a well-used Toyota or Chevy that they'd try to service themselves. They were always asking us at the parts counter to install simple things for them, like wiper blades, sealed beam headlights, batteries, etc, stuff that required only knowledge of a screwdriver or pliers. Even though we weren't mechanics and technically weren't allowed to work on cars we made decent tips doing these tasks, double if they needed wipers and it was raining at the time.

I just run the clippers about once a month and shave a couple of times a week.
