The New York Times published a front-page story about corrupt corporate lobbying featuring a meeting between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and a Raytheon executive before a waiver was issued allowing an arms sale to Saudi Arabia .

Only problem. The meeting was actually held well after the waiver. How does the NYT continue to get these stories 100% wrong? The correction literally means that there was no story of interest.

I'm guessing the retraction was nowhere near the front page?

    Simple.
They are pushing a narrative, and the fact checkers are in on it.

I wish they had the character to do that, but I do not want the government to have control over the media, no matter how bad they are.

I would like to see laws that gave we the people grounds for legal action when we have been lied to.

    They never are.

I want to see a law passed that says all retractions should be on the front page at the top.

That would be great, if it were still the 20th century.

Front page? Who reads physical newspapers anymore?

ETA: In retrospect, I realize that could apply to the front page of the website too.

Yeah, that's probably a more appropriate way of stating it these days. In a prominent position at any rate.
