The real reason is the same reason liberals/statists/socialists/progressives, whatever you want to call them, do anything.

It's about controlling the population and limiting freedom.

They take your guns and force you to rely on the state for protection.

They restrict your vehicle choices to force you to rely on public transportation.

They take your money and force you to rely on the government for sustenance.

It's always about control. They don't believe in God, so government becomes their god, and they demand you worship it.

That's all this is.
The true anti-gunners are just using this to get all your guns. One, step, at, a, time. The goal is Zero private ownership of gun. Not less gun crime. They actually want gun crime at this point. (a la "Fast and Furious") The more the merrier. Even better when this happens after the coming new gun laws. They'll say, but all those thousands sold in the weeks before the ban, they'll be out there for decades. So, National Gun Registration. So that the US Army can come find you when the real fun starts. Gun Seizure. All semi-automatics (yes, your pistols too).

Don't doubt it. That's the goal. This is politics, plain and simple. The New Order does not have private gun ownership in the plans. Neither does it have non-state owned businesses or private land ownership. All on the blocks.

People on our side keep banging their heads on the wall "Can't they see, there's less gun crime where there's more gun ownership."
Can't YOU see. They don't care.

The enemy has us putting out spot fires all over the place. Fighting battles on the fringes while they go straight for the city gates.

We are doomed unless someone stands up to this farce.

Home enviroment does play a role in character developement but adults should also need to be MORE responsible when owning a gun. The new law should also include owning a gun safe and trigger locks or there will be penalties. Since most guns used in crimes are stolen the law should include securing guns by legal owners. Better safety equipment for storing guns. Anti theft systems. Ect... Stiffer laws for " handling" guns. Example people are too relaxed and just leans a loaded shotgun in the corner of the closet. They should store them in safes. Or have mandatory gun safety courses for all gun owners or. ...? Give some ideas guys. All u guys have some ideas. Start spillin ideas. Obviously better safety measuers need taken

Guns are targeted because some people cannot fathom that evil exists. Liberals in particular seem to have trouble understanding that everyone out there is not like they are. They believe that human beings are naturally peaceful creatures so something must trigger or create evil in those who commit evil acts. Since guns tend to create the most carnage and get the most press, guns become the creator of evil in people.

I have zero proof of this, just my thoughts:

Young people who go on these shooting sprees are mainly loners, or outsiders who are socially awkward. They may have come from some sort of broken home and never had any sense of self worth. They had ambition to do something great but never felt they could do it or deserved it. The only time they felt like theybweent a loser was when they played video games. As they progress to young adulthood, they feel a sense of ambition of doing something but to show their peers and their authority (parents, teachers, etc...) that they are somebody. Or perhaps they seek revenge for a life of nothingness and senseless bullying. They dream of doing something big enough to make the news. To do something bigger than the last guy. And then they act upon it.

Unfortunately I do not see a decline in these events anytime soon. Anyplace that has a mass of people will be potential targets for these folks. Malls, schools, movie theaters, etc.. Any place where people are constricted in a building and will have a hard time getting out.

As for me, while I had relaxed quite a bit from carrying everywhere, everyday, I have had to return to doing it. I refuse to let someone hurt my family or myself. Be vigilant out there, everyone!
