    In the country, hopefully.
Hole size correlation to incapacitation? About zero. The 9mm if it fails to expand should still give fmj penetration. A round nose FMJ in any caliber is very bad. Worse if it’s soft.

Given the choice between two incapable loads that will require follow up shots, I’ll go with capacity.
Did I just find another 5.7X28 buddy?!?!?

Purple it if ya want to I don't care.

I placed an equal bet on 9mm and .45acp. The .45 ACP when it absolutely has to be there over-night. The 9mm when I don't know if there is going to be a shipping need. Now if we are talking air freight and rifles are out, the .454 Casull will get a package signed for and the COD taken care of!

this is actualy 2 seperate questions.

Procure? 9mm since i dont prefer to reload it.

Rely on 45ACP since i can reload it.

As for commercial stock, i have both....

I'm not sure what you mean by "procure", as I have plenty of both and reload both.
I can have 500 rounds of each made and available very quickly if needed.
I prefer 45acp in a fight, but, have 9mm for the rest of the family.

    Edit...
I guess I should have read closer.
I reload both 9mm and 45acp, mostly with FMJ for plinking and just shooting.
I reload about 1/3 JHP and 2/3 FMJ for both calibers.
My "defensive" loads are 147gr JHP for 9mm, and 230gr JHP for 45acp.

I'd be happy enough with 9mm ball.

Shot placement is what counts, and in SHTF I'm not exactly concerned about "over penetration."

If we are talking of a true WROL/SHTF situation, why are we talking about handguns at all? Clearly a rifle caliber or 12ga is a superior stopper from a self-defense perspective and more flexible in a food gathering role.

Layered defense. 270 win or 260 rem, 5.56, 357 out of a lever action rifle, 12 or 20 gage, 38 super or 40 followed by 357 sig and 9

For true shtf, spend some time learning to run everything in case you need to go with BF p/u
