Which brings to mind, and I'm sorry for steering this thread somewhat back on track, but that moderator who I thought was going to avoid politic until she started asking about his debts was being a... well... You probably saw it.

How can you question a person about their debts when they have such overwhelming assets? It's ridiculous. That exchange made me feel like I was sitting in President Trumps chair. And what if I was? Would she question my holding a mortgage when there are tax savings to doing so, and having savings and investments and open but untapped lines of credit to prepare me for whatever financial situation I find myself in? Really?

She was trying to injure him politically, but she ended up making him look more like me, like someone who understands debt and the wise use of it. She humanized him, inadvertently, and made him look more like me.

Yeah, never thought a celebrity would be President ? Besides one of our greatest Presidents, what was Regan?
or a philanderer? I seem to remember a John F. Somebody? And some scuz bucket from Arkansas?
What do you consider a “multitude”?
What (in your opinion) “makes(or made) a conservative” a conservative?

While I generally agree with your smackdown in terms of exposing the willful blindness of one side, I just wish we could dispense with certain terms that divide us. Conservative does not equal republican, and liberal does not equal democrat. It hasn't been that way for a long time. I fall somewhere in between, and there is no label for what I believe, so that kinda leaves me in a political no mans land. Liberals would label me a conservative, and conservatives would label me a liberal.

I've long believed, and I've never been proven wrong, that if you drill down deep enough, you can reveal the core belief that positions a person one side of the political spectrum or the other. It's always one core belief. If you can find that singularity, you will find out why they are who they are. The problem is, many people won't let you drill down that far.

I have gone there with people who are willing to be honest about who they are and have a conversation about it. All the issues they profess to care about are peripheral to their central issue. Be careful if you try to do this, especially with a girlfiend.

The problem is, many people won't let you drill down that far.

I honestly don't believe most people's political beliefs go deeper than agreeing with who ever sounds the best to them on a TV screen.

Conservatives usually base their world view on core values and principles, but on the left it's a bit more of a "follow the leader" exercise on trying to constantly chase the newest trends, rather than having any basis in their individual views.

You'll have a very hard time finding any modern leftist who actually has any core belief system. It's not that they won't tell you, it's that they don't know what it is themselves and they're embarrassed by it.

This is a fundamental aspect to the right vs left divide, I believe. It's why we can't find common ground anymore.

...Democrats have been essentially the same for what 30+ years?...

You don't really believe that, do you?:n00b:

The centrists that dominated the party 30 years have been pushed aside by the "progressive" leftists.

The limited power the centrists have left was the only thing that kept the party from nominating a socialist for president in the last two elections.

Biden is weak candidate and feeble old man slipping into the abyss of dementia. If he wins, he'll be steamrolled the leftists.

If, he wins AND the Dems take the senate, we will be f**ked for generations.

Things that have been proposed by the leftists over the last few years, that even other Democrats thought were ludicrous, will suddenly be the party's agenda.

Who will tell them no? Biden? I seriously doubt it. And when SCOTUS tells them no, they will appoint 4 new justices that make RBG look like a conservative and win every case 7-6.

    And we have another winner.

My Dad was one of those old school Dems that failed to see the shift in the party. To the bitter end.

Weird. Earlier you said Biden beat trumps online views. But from your article:

2.94 million. That’s how many views ABC’s YouTube livestream of Biden’s town hall received. NBC’s livestream of Trump’s town hall got just over 2 million views, but CNBC’s two additional livestreamsgarnered an additional 2.8 million views.

    So Biden - 2.94

    Trump - 2 + 2.8 = 4.8

    Also interesting from your article:

Biden’s town hall, which was calmer and generated fewer headlines than Trump’s, nonetheless averaged 13.9 million viewers on ABC, according to CNN.

    “According to CNN”

Forbes is fake news, and using CNN as their source of info just reaffirms that. I’ll trust an actual ratings report. And regardless, if it is true, 900,000 less viewers isn’t really impressive for either candidate... especially reading people on twitter saying they turned every TV on to boost Biden’s ratings to beat trump.

Forbes, for the most part, is written by amateur authors. I’m a Forbes contributor. And that’s not saying much.

My grandpa would admit to voting for only one republican president in his life, Eisenhower.

By 2008, he was well aware the party had left him behind. It was the only presidential election he didn't bother voting in.

Even in the end with that waste of oxygen "O" in the big boy chair my dad was still sticking to his guns and he was raised KKK for cripe sake. Denial and the poisons we choose to intake through our lives both physical and mental take a toll.

"Democrats have essentially been the same.."

Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, etc. would disagree.

I lived in the Twin Cities for years. My place was mere blocks from where the looting, rioting, and arson occurred. I can definitely attest to this. The area has experienced a significant radicalization. It is sad to see and I could not be happier that I am no longer there.

Yeah, I do believe that Democrats have always pushed left, and been doing more so during the time I mentioned. That’s not even up for debate. Gun control, pro-choice, universal healthcare, aren’t exactly new idea. The difference now, is they have a good part of their constituency backing them.

Don’t want to answer my questions?

As much as I'd like for everyone to feel special, I can't read and respond to every single response to one of my posts. I often take breaks between posts, and address whatever is most recent, when I return. Yo
