US dithers on ISIS. China's not losing much sleep.

Anyway, they want to be energy independent, and then set the renminbi as the reserve currency.


Once that happens they won't need to worry much about the US, as we'll be like a post-glasnost USSR going in the tank.

With the current eastward expansion into the Pacific, the Chinese are preparing for an eventual conflict with their neighbors and the US. Of course, they may be betting that we don't have the will or resources to fight a war over their domination of the region.

American's plan in increments of months to years. Chinese plan in increments of decades to centuries. They still hold a grudge from the Opium Wars and our support of Taiwan. It would be economic suicide for them to go to war and loose their trade with the West. But looking back, it has happened before. France was Germany's largest trading partner, prior to WWI.

For the first time ever (I think ) China feels the need to open a military base outside of their mainland , in Africa . That's a clue , just saying .
