Yes, maybe I simplified it too much. Was just thinking about the actual filling out of the title at the branch, I don’t know how much back door cross checking they all do.wont the lender require him to put them on the title as the lienholder?

Yeah right... its a 12' 3 person rowboat with a vintage 9.9 Evinrude. It’s ok, everyone that owns boats is rich!
"Save u-up!"So he got a loan to buy it?
I hate to say it, but I've never been gifted something that required me to get a loan.
How did you manage that?I bought a vehicle from my dad in 2015 and I did not have to pay sales tax.
Wow, I've now owned that car 9 years! Time flies!
The BMV told me since I bought the vehicle from my dad, that I didn't have to pay sales tax. The full purchase price was listed as I had a loan. How did you manage that?
Can't just leave us speculating.
Wonder if they changed that since then? The BMV told me since I bought the vehicle from my dad, that I didn't have to pay sales tax. The full purchase price was listed as I had a loan.
Boat ramps do not build or maintain themselves. (Or idiot proof themselves either for that matter.) Its the same reason State Parks have entrance fees, camping fees etc.I bought a boat from another INGOer. I went to register it with well over 6 months left on the watercraft tags. No credit available to either of us, I had to pay the tag fee in full again even though it had already been paid by him. And they wouldnt have refunded him since he didnt use the tag the whole year. And dont get me started on the separate state waterways tag they require AFTER I pay the state for the right to put it in the public waters. (just not ALL the public waters, apparently.) So there is a double dip too.
You can get credit back for excise tax but I don't think you can get back sales tax.
There is a legal term for this. It is called fraud. Please don't create threads on Ingo and use them to talk about how to commit fraud.Maybe I can tell them I only borrowed $2000.
Could be tax free after all.I ask this question at the license branch a couple of years ago and the clerk told me that immediate family was exempt. I was buying from a cousin and had to pay.
That's awesome! I would not have guessed that.We were at the BMV today. All he had to do is sign an affidavit stating I'm his son and the tax was exempted.
