I was at Deb's today. I was having fun with my G21 but I noticed that 2 times after I loaded my mag, my slide was in it's locked back position as a result of fireing my last round. When I slammed a new loaded mag into the well, my slide ran foward and chambered a round on it's own without me touching it.

Normally I either need to tap the mag in and rack the slide to release it from it's locked back position or use the slide release. Is this normal or is something up?

Son guns do that and some people actually like it better that way, it's one last step you have to do to get ready to shoot.
    I wouldn't worry about it.

Ahh so this is likely due to overzealous mag loading on my part, I will watch that next time, thanks for the help.

Yeah you must be too strong. :D
But it's better to slam the mag too hard and have this happening, than not slamming it hard enough and end up with an empty chamber or the mag falling.

Many guns do that including Glocks, not sure if it's designed to do that but I dont see it as a problem.

Hmm. Ive owned 3 Glocks and none of mine have ever done it.

Gusse Ill have to go shooting again to......experiment!

Thanks for the excuse to go to the range buddy!

    You're welcome. :D

Well I dont know if ALL Glocks do it, I just know that some do.
Maybe some dont do it at all or it just depends on how hard you slam the mag in.
Report to us after your experimentation thing. :yesway:

I have two Glocks, a 26 and 19, they are both Gen3. After reading your post I tried this on both and they stayed open. I do hope you get that pistol to a Glock armorer and have it checked out soon.

I don't know if this has been said, but many guns do it, I wouldn't worry.

But, seriously, how do you normally close the slide - slingshot or depress the slide release/catch lever?

    Slingshot is my preferred.

I've seen several threads on INGO regarding this in the past, and even a couple of armorers indicated that they have seen this happen.

I would imagine that the spring on the slide stop may need a little "tweaking", at least that is what I would try first. Not a big deal.. If you were closer I would be happy to take care of it for you but I'm in Greenwood and it sounds like I may be a "fer piece" from you.
