Thanks for all the insight guys, the reason I asked is I was cleaning out my range bag, hadn't been to the range for a while but with a new Ruger SR9c to break in I wanted to make sure I had everything I needed was in there for my range visit this weken. When I picked the thing up it was like, dang this got heavy since I used it last...

I also found a few things not mentioned..

    bug spray
    sunscreen
    glasses cleaning kit
    set of cleaning brushes
    gun oil
    slide grease
    asprin
    gloves
    duct tape
    zip ties
and an empty brass collection bag..

Have a great weekend all and thanks for the info..

This is good stuff. I especially like the thoughts behind what all you use your bag for. I personally finally gave up trying to have one "range bag" for all types of range trips. I now have one to take "other people" to the range to demo my WW2 guns, pistol range bag, FNS bag, rifle bag.
WW2 bag includes corrosive ammo cleaning stuff, extra eyes and ears to supply newbies I take, shooting mat, slings, tool kit (stuffs old), first aid, hand towel, cleaning kit. If I get a total noob to the range with the WW2 stuff its always nice to get them to see the difference between sight types, scopes, modern and WW2 era rifles, shooting positions...so I bring a little of everything.
Pistol range bag, only differs from my FNS bag by...my FNS bag is a back pack that is also a portable seat. There is a lot of standing around at FNS.

My "range bag" is more of a bag in a bag.

Big bag has med kit, repair kit and tool, extra ear protection, and tons of other stuff I may need. This one stays in the vehicle

Inner bag that lifts out has ammo, eyes/ears and so forth. I was using a Harbor Freight tool bag, but am thinking of swapping to one of the new LA Gear bug out bags I just got in.
