What type of rounds do you put in a defence weapon?

My EDC .380 gets FMJ for penetration. I've read too much that tells me I can't get guaranteed 12" of penetration with hollow points. My EDC Kel-Tec P3AT doesn't feed them well anyway. When I carry my other pistols, they get Golden Saber HP's.

dbl post but wanted to add that my HD shotgun gets buckshot (again, for penetration) and if I ever need it for SHTF scenario, the AR will be fed FMJ
