Hello All! I appreciate all of these posts! I've tried to keep up with all of the listings, but can anyone list some places specific to the South Bend area? I'm curious about which areas have been "de-sensitized" and which have not... I'll still carry all around, but just looking to be prepared.
    Thanks!

I have yet to be hassled anywhere in the SB area. Just do it.

If you spent any amount of time around me, you would find that I OC about 95% of the time. I live between Plymouth and South Bend, so the majority of my encounters are in either of those places. I have OC'ed at a number of places in South Bend / Mishawaka and the ONLY place I have been asked to leave was Wings Etc. at the corner of Ireland and Ironwood, and that was about 7 years ago.

Other than that, I don't normally OC at UP Mall or any of the movie theaters, as I am fairly sure that they don't allow any type of carry.

Earlier in this thread, a couple pages up there was mention of a "Loud Lady" who talked about child molesters carrying guns compared to OCers.

What I still want to know is... What exactly is a "3rd degree felony?"

Quite a few places today, but this one took the cake:

Went to Ace Hardware in Greenwood. I was standing in the back behind a couple of people in line. There was a very young girl, her mother, and her grandmother. The girl was probably 4 or 5. She looked at me, and gasped audibly. I chuckled.

She tugged at her grandmother's shirt, and kept saying "Nanny, nanny, nanny!" Finally the grandmother talked to her and she said "That man has a gun!" The grandmother said "Oh, he does?" I was already laughing. "Well I'm sure he has a permit like your uncle mike"

Then the girl said "But he's going to shoot everyone!" and hid behind her grandma.

    It was adorable.

I open carried at a park in Goshen yesterday. Walked there from my house with the wife and daughter (She's FIVE!) and took them to the playground. Open carried the whole way, lots of kids, lots of parents. A couple teenage boys looked at my askance, but would quickly look away when my head turned towards them. No issues whatsoever.

The ironic part is this. We then walked over to a Kroger (so that I could grab a bag of charcoal for grilling) and the wife asks me to untuck my shirt and cover up the gun before I go in, so that people know that I'm not robbing the place. (She's pregnant, and has baby brain, please forgive her.) I just rolled my eyes, untucked my shirt and walked towards the door while she and the daughter sat outside. I promptly retucked around the corner and nothing was said by anyone, even the wife when i came back out.

In the past week: Costco, Kroger, Flying Cupcake (2 different locations), Brugge, and Pei Wei.

Surprisingly, I had two encounters. Both Pleasant.
Costco: Older gentleman in line said "excuse me, but your piece is showing" (really? Piece?)
I told him that it was okay. He said he wouldn't want his to show if he carried and that it could bother some people. I said, "well if a holstered weapon bothers people then so should a parked car". He told me he wished more people were like me and carried.:rockwoot:
So we had a bit of a discussion on how gun free zones don't work and he's considering carrying. I call that a successful encounter.

Kroger: I heard two older ladies snickering behind me in line. They were talking about hurting their tushes, so I tried to ignore them for a while, but eventually glanced back. One lady asked "Do you sit on that?", pointing at my pistol. I told her it stayed with my back and didn't get sat on. They were relieved and thought it looked uncomfortable.
At least they were pleasant folks.

I pretty much OC all the time so I was at Martin's supermarket for grillin' stuff last night. My daughter wanted me to get her some gummy bears while I was there. I looked around and couldn't find them.

I walked up to a kid stocking shelves and I noticed him eyeing the CZ I carry as I was inquiring where to find the bears. He was insistant on escorting me across the store to the gummy bears. I told him twice to just give me directions and he finally relented.

    Sheesh!

It was comical. You'd have thought I said "Take me to the gummy bears or I'll blow your head off"!

I OC'd around Bloomington on my motorcycle and during a showing of an apartment. +1 to Jeanne Walters Real Estate for not even batting an eye. I was asked if I'm part of IUPD, but I think that was just because the guy showing me the apartment knew me through his sister... who happens to be IUPD.
