I’ve been buying off gunbroker lately. It requires some patience and time, but there’s deals out there.

    I bought a season’s worth of 230gr plated for 45acp for $0.07/pc.

I use RMR and the 5% discount for being a member of the high road forum. Starting to get into casting but will probably buy more from rmr for 223.

my last order was with penn bullets. he was one of the few bullet casters (and the cheapest) that I found that still cast 155gr SWC in 45acp.

I hadn't bought bullets in 20 years, had some sticker shock when I started looking again.

I found an old box from johns precision casting in florida I paid $14.75/500 Penn was $84/1000

Ideal, Lyman, Lee, Saeco, NEI, Accurate, NOE... Very few applications demand jackets and when they are needed I'll use paper and spit instead of copper if I can. If not then well OK, break down and buy some copper.

Copper and brass cost money that's better spent on powder and lead!

I tried buying lead at a local tire shop and they said they reuse all their weights. I always thought they didn't because it damaged them pulling them off the rim. Who knew?
I tried buying lead at the local scrap yard and was told they didn't sell toxic metals to common folk.

I like coated Badman Bullets but I don't know if they have copper jacket pills for sale.

I was able to score 100lbs of weights and another 90ish lbs of auto body solder for $105. I had about 35lbs of scrap out of the 100lbs. This shop is a small mom and pop shop and they are big 2A supporters.

Our only issue with getting lead from a tire shop is getting it before someone else

When I looked up the going rate for 30(tin)/70(lead) on rotometals I about pooped myself for what the price of 50lbs is. I have about 75lbs of that, so I should be good on tin for a long time.

I cast for .45, .44, .357 and .40, but I have recently been purchasing all of my 9mm from TheBlueBullets.com. At $0.06/per it is hard to justify casting them myself considering the time it takes to cast, powdercoat and size them.

For .223 I purchase from 223bulkbullets.com. 8.3 cents per with free shipping. Can't beat the price and I find them to be quite accurate. Especially for the cost.

What’s the max velocity for coated bullets? The blue bullet place had some good prices.

I have always heard you can load them at plated bullet velocities without issue. I have ran some even hotter than that with no troubles but I don't make it a habit. YMMV.

That depends on who you listen to. Some claim you should keep to coated bullet velocities. Some claim 1400fps, 1500fps, etc. Ask ten people and you will get 12 answers.

I have run my own powdercoated bullets over full house .357 Magnum loads without issues or leading. I have run TBB projectiles on standard 9mm, .40, .45. .38 Special loads without any issues at all. I see no reason they would not work at magnum pistol loadings. Their coating is extremely durable and has a lot of lubricity.

SnS Casting in Illinois of all places. Very good consistent quality and shipping from there to Indiana is a lot less expensive than from the far West.
