My EDC - XDm 3.8 compact 9mm loaded with Federal HST 124grain +P. One in chamber and 11 in magazine. I leave it sitting on the dresser about 6 feet from where I sleep. I also have a full size XDm 9mm - but that one is in a small Sentry safe in the closet a little further away.

Nightstand duty is covered by a Sig Scorpion full size 1911 with a light on the rail. I also usually put my Sig P238 on the nightstand as well. A Mossberg 500 is within arms reach. I love being able to look at the nightstand in the dark and see all of those tritium sights looking back.
