Why do people buy suppressors?

Guess I will have to find someone who'll let me mess with theirs for awhile some day. I'm curious, but not sold. Yet.

My first venture into the NFA forum, but I wondered for what reasons people buy suppressors. I understand the stamp cost, but how much does the can itself cost on average?

Ever fire a gun indoors with no muffs or hearing protection? Even if you dial 911 afterward you wont hear a darn thing they are saying. trust me.

No, only been to an indoor range when it was at the Indiana Memorial Union. I'm lucky enough to have outdoor shooting.

And for teaching kids, like my middle girl who is a bit skittish, it is gonna be a blessing. She is so gonna rock the black rifle:

I'll cop to buying mine for the coolness factor...

And the fact that I can mount it on multiple firearms...even ones not owned by me personally.

In all honesty, I really don't need an NFA day. I already have enough expensive habits.

INGO Advertisers 21st Century had a schweet deal on a .22 can last year. I heard something about a desire to repeat it, but I don't know if I'm remembering correctly or if it ever came (or is still planned to come) to fruition. There may be others as well, but I specifically recall them having that deal. This post is not meant to favor any one advertiser over any other.

Which comes first. Can or stamp?

First you pay your dealer for the can. Then you send in your paperwork for the stamp. When you get the stamp back, you can take home your can.
