If you believe that then I have a fabulous garment to sell you! It is made of the finest silks and linens and it can only be seen by the wise.

What's not to love about the 1911 or any of it's variants? I fell in love with this pistol ever since my father put one in my hands when I was 8. I haven't been without one since! It's like mac45 said...it just fits.

    ...just because

    1. They get the job done!
    2. Great knockdown power.
    3. They are darn sexy!
    4. They fit your hand so well, to me nothing else compares.
    5. Mods are fun and most fairly easy to do yourself.
    6. Everyone carries parts.
    7. Ammo is easy to find.
    8. A well tuned 45 is about as good as it gets.
    9. You can't shoot Bullseye Competition without one.
    10. Once you have one, you will want another to trick out!

SubUrban, I really like those S&W 1911s, they are damn good shooters. I dunno if your mag is out but the only thing I don't love about them is the factory mag that sticks out a little out of the bottom of the grip.

From the beginning, there has been the original 1911, the 1911A1, and what Colt calls the Series 80 with a firing pin safety to prevent slam-fires. That is only two significant technical updates in 101 years. Glock is on its fourth incarnation in spite of an overall lifespan only one fourth that of the 1911.

The original 1911 was/is not the 1911, but the original is the first generation.
The 1911A1, which came along later after WWI might be thought of as the generation 2.
The Colt Series 80 could be thought of as the generation 3.

"The post-war era saw subtle refinements to the basic Model 1911 design, including the addition of improved sights, an arched mainspring housing, shorter trigger, longer grip safety spur and other ergonomic improvements. Collectively these improvements were completed in 1924 and resulted in the Model 1911A1."

Think it's like a 32 deuce coup. Every body wants one .The average person can do some custom work to make it personal. Both are old but classic in design .But they will RUN with anything put up against them.
