Why is a Marlin 336 so hard to find?

    Slight thread-jack (OP, let me know if this is too far afield) - :hijack:

    Curious about preferences people have between the Winchester 94 and the Marlin 336? Meaning, if one were in the market, which one would you nudge them towards and why?
    I have a Marlin 336, as stated above, because I inherited it, but I would love to have a 94, just seems lighter....

    I'm enamored of the 94. Push come to shove, the 336 is probably the better, more effective gun. But there is something cool about the 94, how the top of the receiver moves back to cock the hammer.

    There is a romantic quality to lever guns. If I make it to really old age (you know, CM territory), a lever and a 1911 will likely be the last two firearms in my possession.
