Even with the noted precautions, you are sitting stationary with the window down. Focused on your banking, not the blind spots, a surprise reach in the window can have complete control of you with or without weapons.

You can never account for all possibilities but, if you are looking around every few seconds, most often, you can notice an attempt to approach. SA always.

Care to elaborate? Cliffs notes edition is fine.

Here's the AAR. Ichokepeople's first post describes the "verbal" confrontation idea.

We were all encouraged to have our own phrases ready, such as "I can't help you". Also something as simple as "stop" if someone keeps coming closer while talking to you. Having that verbage ready (simple as it may seem), allows you to keep control rather than being distracted. We also practiced getting LOUDER quickly if someone keeps coming. The perp then may worry about attention being drawn to him and be discouraged.

Possibly, but my doors are locked, vehicle is running and I pull up close enough to the ATM that a body couldn't fit between.

Good point. Though not something I did consciously, but getting close enough to reach the machine most often made to close for anyone to fit. If nothing else, the door won't open.

Its a drive up ATM at 63ish and Michigan. She should of kept driving after seeing him standing next to the ATM. On top of that she opened the door.

If I use a drive up ATM I try to get my car as close to the ATM as possible, like they aint fitting between us close.
