If you have ANY symptoms at all, get it checked out. I contracted Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from a tick I brought back with me from Tennessee on a February hiking trip about 18-20 years ago. I found the tick burrowed in on Sunday night when I got home, had a slight rash by Monday evening, woke up Tuesday morning gasping for breath, eyes swollen shut, throat swollen, body covered in huge welts from head to toe and with a fever over 100. My wife got me to the hospital and the ER about messed their pants. I got an immediate shot of atropine and a few more shots of other stuff I don't recall. I was put on a regime of drugs and sent home. I had a high fever, was more or less delirious and slept for 2 days straight, no joke. I had severe joint pain for 6 months after all other symptoms were gone. I got to play 50 questions with a Federal agency in Atlanta regarding infectious disease and be part of a study group (yeah for me!). Don't mess around with it,....it dang near killed me.
