Here's my old gal. She's been rode hard and put away wet more than a few times. One day I nearly welded the can to it. Took a rubber mallet and some serious work to get the darn thing off. Good day until cleaning time.

start off with a standard colt mil-spec. hogue grip. mil issue acog. 3 position sling. PEQ-15. worked just fine for me.

Heres what what mine is now.

DPMS Lower. RRA LPK and 2 Stage National Match Trigger. Houge grip and Magpul winter trigger guard and Daniel Defense Single point sling adapter. Upper is a LMT 10.5 with a Daniel Defense Light rail that covers the gas block and a Suppressor Armament TOMB Flash Hider. And Arms M40 rear sight and Troy flip up front sight.

What I am waiting on.

Magpul CTR stock, EOTech, Daniel Defense Single point slight and of course my my Suppressed Armament 7in Suppressor (just waiting on Stamp return now.)

I just don't have any pics of it. I did build the gun, and installed the lite rail. Hope to finish everything soon. Also not sure what light and forward grip configuration I want yet. Maybe Surefire.

I don't know if I'd call it ideal, but here are a couple shots of my current AR15.

It's a Stag Arms M2. I've added an ACS-L stock, MOE handguard, MS3 sling along with ASAP and MSA. All from MagPul.

I'll be adding a weapon light and an Aimpoint (either the T1 or the PRO).

My "M4" has changed since this excellent thread was first posted! Here's my newer setup.

Rifle: Colt 6940

Stocks: Magpul CTR

Grip: Magpul MOE

Hand Guard: Monolithic Rail

Light: None yet, want a Haley or Vtac setup

Sling mount: QD rear, factory front

Sling: VTAC 2 point

Charging handle: BCM GunFighter Mod 4 (medium latch)

BUIS: Factory iron rear

Optic: None as of yet, want an Aimpoint H1

Funny how the only things that stayed the same were the Grip and BUIS! Ha

My current "M4" which is my bump-in-the-night gun is pretty much a basic 16" m4, with MI FS rail piece holding a surefire light, and a vtac sling. simple, no-frills, and has proven to go bang reliably over many thousands of rounds.

Currently building a 12.5" to take it's place. It'll probably get a dot. It'll definitely get a 762-sdn-6.

I'm really liking my Patrol rifle setup after adding an Aimpoint

Specs:
-Spike's 16" LW
-Rainier XD Flash Suppressor
-Streamlight TLR-1 in MagPul Scout Mount
-MagPul MOE(switching to CTR)
-Spike's NiB trigger w/KNS Gen2 Mod2 Pins

-AimPoint PRO
-Cheapo Single Point($20 performed well @ carbine class)
