A man posts as to how he found some police officers to be polite and professional and how he appreciated it. Then as predicted follows the pointless and very tiresome bashing: How dare this man say something nice about the police who stopped him? Doesn't he know how he is causing all of us to lose our rights?

It is tiresome and boring. Oh, and I forgot ridiculous.

I will probably stop visiting this site due to being sick of this crap.

    Terry

If he had been pulled over for breaking some sort of law, I would be more inclined to agree with you. However he had not done anything to warrant being pulled over. I would be pretty ticked if a LEO pulled me over for daring to park at my office on my way to work.

Not to mention, I don't advertise to my coworkers that I carry a gun... the last thing I need are some cops flashing my gun around in the parking lot because they "felt like it".

Even if you are alright with cops disarming you during traffic stops, their police business was over after he said he worked there. At that point they should have said thank you and left (or at least watched him from their car).

I better never hear any stories of any of these SUPER Americans having ever called 911 in the past or ever planning to in the future. Everyone is all F the police, when they get pulled over, but no one ever says "man, I'm really sorry a few innocent people matching the description of a criminal in the area were inconvenienced while the police were attempting to catch said criminal." Especially if the "crime" was committed against them.

+1 to RedSkinsFan +1 to Brandon +1 to esrice (I'm beginning to) +1 to OP for appreciating professionalism.

Police exist for a reason, a dam good reason, and being inconvenienced 1-2 in a lifetime by them in support of their job is perfectly fine by me. Not to mention, so what if someone shows an LTCH, is it not possible that anyone has ever committed a crime after having received it? "OH! you have a pink card, then there is no way in hell you could be a bad guy or have a stolen gun, thanks for flashing me your card, I'll be on my way!"

And if his boss saw this and fires him in the morning would it still be ok?

They do exist for a reason... but not to harass people who aren't doing anything more than parking at their place of business. They could have simply asked what his business was there and after he says "I work here" gone back to their car and watched to see if he went in.

I have to go to my office in the evening sometimes. If an officer approached me and asked what I was doing I would have no problem with it. It would be clear that I was telling the truth when they watch me unlock the door and enter. Now if I suspiciously turn around and leave, then it would be a good idea to follow me and wait for me to exceed the speed limit by 1mph and pull me over.

Maybe everyone that has ever worked or traveled through Fishers in recent weeks should give up a sample of their DNA to help catch the ones that are guilty.

It's a minor inconvenience for the greater good.

Did she or did she not hit you with her car? Seems like a good reason to check on those things.

What did this guy do? Park at work?

Sorry, this is how it SHOULD have gone:

"Hello sir... mind if we ask what your business is here? We have had a problem with burglaries"

"Not at all, I work here"

"Thank you sir, let us know if you see anything suspicious"

    "Sure thing"

--- Now the cop walks back to his car and watches the person to see if they enter the building.

What ACTUALLY happened was the cops thought the person looked "different" and decided to try to get him on a weapons possession.

Are you guys alright if cops stand on the sidewalk downtown and ask everyone who walks by if they have a weapon?

Yes it would still be OK, it would then be a D#$kh@#d boss thread. There are casualties in a war. War on crime = a few innocent people get inconvenienced every now and then.

Original OP did say he or his vehicle matched the description of someone committing burglaries in the area. If I robbed you and I carry a LTCH and mind the speed limit will you be happy to know that I just cruise your neighborhood in a grey silverado "not being harassed" because I didn't speed? Screw that, if I get robbed by someone driving a blue s10, I want every blue s10 in a 30 mile radius pulled over on sight!

So the Constitution gets used as ass wipe. No big deal. Gotta break a few eggs in the name of safety!

    NO HE DIDN'T!

He said "apparently i looked suspicious enough to get pulled over due to recent burglaries in the area."

That does not mean he matched a description.

This was a RANDOM stop to interrogate someone. Again, I am fine with them asking what his business was there, but after he answers "I work here" their business is DONE. If they don't believe him, they can observe him from their car.

This is no different than cops standing on the sidewalk asking everyone who passes by if they have a weapon to try to catch someone on weapons charges.

Actually, no, he did not say that.

Why do you feel it necessary to distort the facts to support your argument in favor of subverting the 4th Amendment and Indiana Constitution?

driving without insurance would be a good ticket to give her.

She will get a letter in the mail to prove she had insurance, if she doesn't her license will be suspended

Do you want cops calling everyones insurance company every time a wreck happens?

Then they wouldn't have time to harass law abiding citizens:dunno:

Nice try Joe, your the one turning the mole hill into a mountain here. I've put my life on the line to defend our constitution so in no way am I desecrating it. If the LEO had a good reason to pull him over then no one was breaking the law, if he wasn't cuffed and put in a cruiser, he wasn't illegally detained and lastly, I would hazard to guess (whether they were just being polite or not) they probably asked if they could run the gun.

Like I said, silly of me to have forgotten, if you have a LTCH it's impossible for you to be a bad guy or have stolen property. Not to mention, if these "quivering masses" didn't have the piece of mind the PD gives them, they'd be sniping legal gun carriers wholesale purely out of fear.

Good luck though, when all this happens to you, go crazy with your 2a speech, tell the police how dumb they are, sh*t don't give up your gun when they ask for it - wrestle them for it...whatever. Nothing about this story was really a big deal at all and anyone who believes that the safety of public servants and the public in general isn't worth 10 minutes of their time or thinks that in that 10 minutes the constitution was shat on is kidding themselves. Get off the high horse.

I think he was implying that is why the cops should have checked this guys LTCH out to make sure it was valid...

However my point is that the girl who hit him DID SOMETHING to prompt being investigated. This guy just parked at work. I think this argument actually backfires on him... so the cops can harass someone who has done nothing wrong and take the time to run his LTCH and gun serial # but won't call an insurance company???
