yes it can be done on long action. my favorite thing about the system is not the mag capacity its the ability to load longer oal and still feed properly in the mag.

I'd like to see an update/review regarding the Leupold you put on there.

    Ask and Ye shall receive...

I would say that I have not improved noticeably since switching to the Leopold (VX-II 6-18X40mm) scope, as my 0.122 and 0.133 groups are probably close to the pinnacle of accuracy that this rifle is capable of achieving. This is the only group that I attempted before last weekend's SJCRC sniper match, and I mainly worked on single shot accuracy to prepare for the match. It measures a tiny 0.124 MOA, and is within the margin of error of the best group from my previous cheapo scope.

Where the Leupold will begin to show its worth is when I start to stretch out to distances beyond 100 yards. One improvement that I will be making to the Leupold is to send it to their custom shop next month, where it will receive a target turret that will be calibrated to my exact ammunition. This will allow a 100 yard zero to maintain its zero as I move out to 150, 200, 250... and beyond 700 yards with just a single click of the turret for each distance.

As to last weekend's sniper match, I feel that I did pretty well considering the level of competition and the fact that it was my first match. I came in 4th out of a field that consisted of police sharpshooters, swat, marines and seasoned competitors. I feel that my nerves really hampered my performance, as I was paranoid that the clock was moving faster than it really was. Most of my shots were perfectly placed, but two shots went just wide of their intended target. In this field of competitors, even one mistake can knock you out of the top three. I had a great time, and I look forward to doing better next time.

Well that didn't last long... After just a couple of weeks and one match, I have decided to replace the scope again. My lovely wife has just given me the thumbs up to get a top of the line scope. Yea Me! The only catch is that I'll have to sell the Leupold to fund said high-end scope.

If anyone knows of someone who needs a 2-week old, perfect condition, 10th MOA shooting Leupold real cheap, PM me.

I am not 100% sure on the brand, but the specs will have to contain FFP (First Focal Plane) and matching Mil / Mil turrets & reticle. There are quite a few high-end scopes that fit this description, and I'll make a final determination in the next day or two. This will have to be a buy once, cry once purchase. :)

USO, Nightforce, Schmidt & Bender or Premier. You can't go wrong with any of them, just a matter of options, reticle choice and how much you want to spend.

For out of the box accuracy it's pretty hard to beat a Remington 700 in most any flavor. I've never owned, shot, or seen a bad one in over 40 years of shooting. All of them respond well to good handloads, and it seems you almost have to try to come up with a load that won't shoot well in them. Bill T.

I wouldn't not go Premier for this application. I have a couple or three tactical type rifles wearing Premiers now and much prefer them over the others. Their turrets are outstanding and ergos second to none.

I now have a mission in life.....3 inside a dime! Start the coffee pot...this may take a while.

I'll call your three and raise you one. ;)

The good news is that my 2 week old Leupold has sold. I'll be making the transfer on the 18th, and will follow that up with my next scope selection... The anticipation is KILLING me!

    What will I buy...

Yours is a very nice NightForce. The problem I have right now is that there are so many options, and I just know that whatever I choose I'll regret in some way.

No one offers the options like USO. Just do your research, decide what works for you and if you can't find exactly what you want, call USO. They'll build it to your specs and they stand behind their products.

There are different options available through S&B, NF and Premier but no one offers the options that USO offers that I know of. I don't try to convince anyone that having the choices you have with USO doesn't come with a price because it can be a compromise. When your scopes are built one at a time, by hand and each scope is different than the last the chances for having a problem are greater. I've owned four USO scopes, one of them had to go back due to the elevation erector hanging up. Sent it back and was told that a bit of sealant had gotten onto a spring during assembly. It was repaired very quickly and without cost to me, kind of disappointing when you consider the cost but **** happens.
