Do not, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES have any government law enforcement agency do ANYTHING concerning that gun!!!!

If there is anything questionable about it it's YOU that will bite the bullet for it. They will care nothing about how old it is, where you obtained it, etc.

I tell you this as a retired law enforcement command officer.

    DON'T DO IT!!!

I have an older 32 ACP (1917 Ruby).
    Any thoughts?

My biggest concern would be shooting modern ammo through it. I understand you like it and it conceals/carries easy but I wouldn't take the chance on breaking it. There are to many "modern" small easy to carry guns out there.

As far as your original question, seems to me you already had your mind made up before posting the question.

No, I really didn't. And at this point, I still don't. I guess it comes down to the question of; Do I want to carry this weapon? If I do, I don't thik I am willing to carry a weapon if I don't know it's history, ie: will it come up clean in a serial # search?

If I don't carry it, then there's no question. I keep it as is, and fire it for fun occaisionally.

Them's some pretty strong words...Are you saying that if it has a 'dirty history' I might not only lose the gun, but I might get in some kind of trouble? Or are you saying it is better in a general sense that I keep my belongings private when it comes to an over-reaching government?

You'll lose the gun and your life as you know it now will be over. If it was stolen before you were born they'll charge you with it.

Trust me on this...don't do it.

I take it you are talking from experience having seen this in your own dept when you were an LEO?
Yes...my department was rabidly anti-gun during my career and would do anything to hurt a gun owner. Unfortunately I'm seeing that attitude increasing in law enforcement rather than the opposite.

We've seen what IMPD did to some open carriers at City Market and I've had a recent personal experience establishing that the Carmel PD is viciously anti-gun.

Well if your truly that worried about what kind of history the gun has, maybe you should get rid of it. If it does have a history, you've now stated on a public forum that you plan to keep it anyway.

I have no reason to believe this gun has a history.

It does too have a history! It was made on "xyz" date at "abc" factory by emplyee "def" and on "ghi" you obtained it and have fired "jkl" rounds thru it. See it's hirstory. ;) Histroy is just that. A story about something. Could be a good or bad story we don't know. :joke:

You are responsible for the part of its history which began when you purchased it.

Just like a car, a lawnmower, an axe, a baseball bat...
