I'm not advocating the behavior you are outlining, just clarifying moronic statements.

I'm glad of that, and I was speaking more in the general sense because I DO see people for example on I-465 quite often who intentionally impede the flow of traffic to the point that I've felt unsafe.

I also came back from up North on I-65 on my motorcycle yesterday, and I was stuck in both lanes bumper to bumper traffic and me in the middle of it.

Most often it was caused by ONE individual who intentionally blocked off the left lane.
Mix a bunch of 18 wheelers into this, and it's a potentially dangerous situation.

I ended up getting off I-65 at Attic Frankfort and took HWY 52 to Lebanon.

I use right lane to enter and exit, then straight to the left lane as I tend to drive faster than most and I always move to the middle when someone driving faster comes up from behind. So I guess I would say A.

    :+1:

I get over as soon as possible if someone comes up behind me.

In the car, I do 10 over which leaves me in the left lane most of the time. Here in NWI, only the FIDs (fn Illinois drivers) generally drive faster than that, but I merge right assuming I have the room. Cops occasionally pull people over for breaking the law, so I try not to go too fast in a car.

On the other hand, riding my sportbike, I'm always the fastest it seems. According to the ISP trooper that didn't ticket me last month, 90 on my speedo is laser confirmed to be 82mph, which is my "average" speed on the highway. Cars never pass me, so I'm always in the left lane. I try to stay away from other vehicles altogether, so I find myself zipping around slow left-laners, speeding up greatly to pass semis, and going much faster than 90 to get out of a pack of traffic and back into my comfort zone.

My 130dB horn gets 90% of the left lane riders out of the way, and being on a nimble, 1000cc stallion, I can simply, quickly, and safely go around the other ones and back to my vehicle free, safety buffer zone. I don't $@*! around on the bike, I'm a very offensive rider (you have to be to avoid traffic accidents), and I take my safety buffer zone to heart.

In my CLK350, 90 on my speedo is 85 according to GPS. 50/50 on whether I'd pass you, unless you drop below 80, then you're in my mirrors.

If a car passed me on my bike, I'd be following him until one of us reaches our exit! :rockwoot:It's a rare sight, but thank you for not granny driving in the left lane! :yesway:

    Speaking of following people:

I live near an ISP and Lake County post, and it seems that going up and down 65 I end up following them 50% of the time. People get out of the way for them, seem to pay attention to the road for a few seconds, and I feel much safer following them, not to mention they're usually going 15-20 over and I get to my destination a bit quicker.

I've had one scenario where I was following an ISP trooper who was going 95-100 when he pulled into the right lane, started pacing me, checked out my bike and gave me the :yesway:. I let him back in front of me and we cruised all the way to Merrillville in a very timely fashion. Believe it or not, I've ran across the same trooper at the same stretch of road twice, this time with me pacing him and giving him the :yesway: before pulling in behind him. What a nice guy!

I keep right except to pass or if I have a left turn coming up. How far in advance of the left turn I move over depends on how much and how far off the traffic is I see in my mirrors. I drive US41 northbound to go to work. I turn left in Cedar Lake. The speed limit changes from 60 to 55 to 45 then 35 rather quickly. I usually move over when it becomes 55 so I am not stuck in the right lane trying to get over with people flying past in the left lane because following these posted limits I am in a minority. Often people come up quickly and get close to my bumper and I just ignore them and continue on at my 2 or maybe 3 over the limit if I am feeling wild and crazy. On some occasions I have had some one flash their lights when they come up on me. This causes me to brake quickly and and hold up my arm and give the your no.1 sign in my truck window to acknowledge that their lights are working.
Correct me if I am wrong? LIMIT, like in speed limit, isn't that the maximum speed you are allowed to travel? It seems that some people feel it is the minimum speed and you are able to go a reasonable amount above the LIMIT!
And yes I have already admitted that I go over the limit. I guess it is just that free and wild American spirit in me.

    A.

Gotta call b.s. on the results of this poll, unless fellow INGO'ers are the only people that ever seem to have a clue on the interstate. I do 10-15 over in the left lane most days, sue me. I'm much safer out front 10 over than in a pack of morons on their phones, stuffing their face, and god knows what else while struggling to stay in their lane and letting every semi they come across make a pass in front of them.. Sounds like there are at least a few honest left lane lurkers on here. I don't care how fast you're going, if you're causing a back up, you're infinitely more dangerous than a speeder. My favorite are the guys who take a minute+ to pass a semi doing 5 under..that's about one of the dumbest things you could do, but I see it everyday..

Anyway, sore topic for me...wish the results of this poll were reflected on 65/465.

I move to the right if possible. Listen fellow hoosiers, please don't start driving like my family in Idaho amd utah. They think because their taxes built the whole road that they, in turn, own the whole road. Speedy passing on the right, not moving over, not yielding, and not know what a round about is are their signature moves. :)

I usually do, but what about the ones that are veering all over the place, not moving over to go past an interchange when they have the room to do so and almost running cars off the road, speeding (75/65), cutting drivers off and/or changing lanes less than 10 feet behind the car ahead? Its kinda hard to stay away from the big-rigs when they suddenly decide they want to be in your lane and don't really wait for you to get out of the way.

for the record, I witnessed all of the above this morning on my drive from FW to Indy on I-69.

Also, when I was driving my firebird I had a semi start to make a lane change while I was passing it. that is kinda scary when you're looking over at the underside of the trailer :n00b:

I stopped at this post BECAUSE a handful of "professionals" on this forum believe that even if the accident is clearly the truckers fault...somehow the blame is shifted to the 4-wheelers. I had a semi try to play bumper cars as I was coming off an offramp and the trucker had nothing but clear lanes (nobody in front of in either lane for about 1/2 mile and nobody behind for at least 1/2 mile) but when I said something in a thread it HAD to be my fault. Just because they can easily kill other drivers doesn't mean they should drive however they want.

    ________________________________________________________________

    blah blah blah...

I drive in whatever lane I feel like at the time but most of the time I don't have a clue as I'm usually so drunk or high on the meth/crack/PCP/acid. I'll take down mailboxes or anything else that gets in the way if I need to pass on the shoulder or sidewalk. I've got no problem playing bumper cars out there.

BTW, even the people that think they're great drivers are idiots (yes that includes the professionals). Can't stand spring through the fall when morons think they NEED to be on the lookout for yard/garage sale signs. You really don't need to stop at every single one to buy junk someone else doesn't want. Pay attention to your surroundings but don't get whiplash trying to see a pretty bird or some $5 broken patio set. Everyone needs to pay a lot more attention to what they're doing or stay off the road. No reason anyone should be a smear on the blacktop because someone wasn't paying attention.

I look forward to reading the many many more "I got a ticket, boo hoo" and "I need a lawyer" threads to come in the future. LOL, where's that guy who could barely keep the front wheel on the ground... ROTFL

People who don't know what a STOP sign means, the cops are just picking on the poor little thing. Speed limits and passing lanes are foriegn concepts? Once a month there's a felon wondering how to get his LTLC or if he can carry black power guns. Tresspassing polls?

And then there's a thread about Making Gun Owners look bad and constant comments about how some one is going to "educate" some one, any one, the police, store managers, there' girlfriend, their father in law, the sheeple?

    Grown ups? Where?

It's maddening in Lake county, all the IL platers and transplants bring over their crappy driving habits.

The worst part is when the guy holding up traffic in the passing lane is going the same speed as the guy in the right lane and YOU CAN SEE THE G--DAMN OPEN ROAD FOR MILES AHEAD OF THEM GAH WTFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

If i'm in the "big city" i drive in the middle - but out on the four lane roads i believe in using the right lane as your primary lane. however, I am an aggressive driver so I do spend a fair amount of my time in the left lane. Key is situational awareness - if you see someone moving faster than you, get out of their way.

I'm one of those "Illinois transplants" you refer to and my experience over here is that in proportion, Indiana drivers are the same as Illinois drivers.
